Abstract

New procedure for producing glazed ceramic parts.Said procedure, essentially based on a flux material and a material with high heavy metal content, along with a hardening additive, basically comprises sintering by single firing of said materials to form a glaze matrix, constituting said ceramic parts, in which the heavy metal particles are trapped.The procedure has applications in the Ceramics Industry as well as being a major alternative for environmental protection, taking advantage of certain industrial waste that is highly polluting.Fabrication of vitreous ceramic products comprises sintering a mixture of a flux, a material with a high content of heavy metals, and a setting accelerator. The resulting vitreous matrix incorporates the heavy metal particles, thus disposing of highly toxic industrial waste material.
