Abstract
Velocimetry equipment by correlating images with reduction of errors associated with speed gradients and query window edges.The present invention is a modification of the usual particle image velocimetry equipment (PIV). This modification consists in the combined use of symmetrical direct correlation and compensation of the pattern deformation of particles, avoiding the instability that can develop in said association. The attached chart presents an example of said instability. The advantages of this PIV velocimeter are the reduction of errors associated with the edges of the query window and the presence of gradients in the movement field. The possibilities of application of this velocimeter include the totality of fields in which PIV is employed (such as aeronautics, naval, environment, civil and mechanical engineering, chemical industry, etc.).
