Abstract

Procedimiento de descontaminación de especies metálicas en aguas mediante magnesia cáustica. El procedimiento describe la utilización de un óxido de magnesio altamente reactivo, de bajo coste y disponible en grandes cantidades para la eliminación de metales en aguas. Este material se aplica solo o mezclado con otros productos inertes o reactivos de manera que la mezcla sea permeable al flujo de agua y actúe como un filtro. El material se puede colocar bien como relleno de zanjas interceptando el paso del agua, bien como relleno de balsas y canales por donde se hace circular un curso de agua superficial. El procedimiento aprovecha el flujo natural del agua y el material se aplica en exceso, no requiriendo dosificación ni cuidados permanentes. El óxido de magnesio se disuelve neutralizando la acidez del agua y favoreciendo la precipitación de los hidróxidos de los metales disueltos.
