Abstract

Planta resistente a medios con metales pesados. La presente invención se refiere a una planta con una elevada capacidad de acumular metales pesados en su parte aérea y su empleo en la recuperación de medios contaminados con metales pesados. Las plantas han sido modificadas genéticamente para ser resistentes a medios contaminados por metales pesados y para en esos medios contaminados tener la capacidad de absorber los metales pesados, acumulándolos en sus hojas, para recuperar el medio contaminado. La modificación genética se ha basado en la identificación de genes de plantas implicados en los procesos de detoxificación de metales pesados y la sobreexpresión de los mismos dando lugar a plantas transformadas susceptibles de ser utilizadas en procesos de fitorremediación.
