Abstract

Método para accionar un horno de arco eléctrico para constituir y mantener una escoria espumosa de cierto grosor predeterminado, por encima de toda el área de la sección transversal del baño de fusión, mediante la aportación de un formador de escoria, en particular de carbono, caracterizado porque la cantidad de formador de escoria aportada al horno de arco eléctrico se regula en función de la corriente consumida por los electrodos y, por consiguiente, la potencia absorbida por el horno de arco eléctrico, de modo que se aporta primero, para formar la escoria espumosa. la cantidad máxima de formador de escoria, hasta que se reduce el consumo de corriente de los electrodos, seguidamente, se reduce la cantidad de formador de escoria aportada, hasta que el consumo de corriente alcanza un valor teórico prefijado, y posteriormente se mantiene constante el consumo teórico de corriente reduciendo o aumentando la cantidad de formador de espuma aportada.
