Abstract

A trough mangle has a mangle roller associated with a mangling trough formed from a bent sheet of a rapidly re-passivating special steel. Also claimed are similar trough mangles in which the special steel has the composition: (a) 17-25 % Cr, 5-27 % Ni, 0-7 (preferably 2-6) % Mo, 0-1 % Cu, 0-0.5 % N, 0-0.08 % C, optionally small amounts of Ti and balance Fe; or (b) ≥ 28 % Ni, 14-30 % Cr, 0-4 % Cu, 0-7 (preferably 2-6) % Mo, 0-0.08 % C, optionally small amounts of Mg, Si, Al and/or Ti and balance Fe.
