Abstract
Multi-type air conditioner for combined use of cooling and heating, having one outdoor unit and multiple indoor units. The outdoor unit has a compressor and a heat exchanger. Each indoor unit has a heat exchanger. A bypass tube connects the external exchanger to the compressor and its opening degree is controlled by a bypass valve. A sensor detects the temperature of the refrigerant from the internal heat exchanger to the compressor. As the temperature increases, the bypass tube closes. Therefore, the amount of refrigerant to the internal exchanger and that diverted by the bypass pipe are controlled according to temperature, thereby increasing the cooling efficiency. In addition, the pressure difference between the refrigerant flowing from the internal exchanger and the one flowing from the bypass pipe is reduced, thereby reducing noise.
