Abstract

In a loading and/or off loading device, eg., for a silkscreen printing machine, a transfer member includes two jaws 50,51, one of which is fixed and the other of which is mobile, for picking up of an object 11, eg., a bottle. The mobile jaw 51 is mounted to be under the control of an actuator 53 including a compensator spring arrangement 64, the tension in which is variable. The mobile jaw: 51 may be rotatably or linearly mounted and its actuator 53 may include an endless belt 54 running around a motor pulley 55, a drive pulley 57 and a at least one jockey wheel 58 which is rotatably mounted on a support block 62 that is mobile in translation against the compensator spring 64 including adjuster nut 67. In order to provide optimum control of the clamping force F1 applied by the mobile jaw 51 for differently shaped objects 11 all that is required is the adjustment of the tension of the compensator spring 64 by operating the adjuster nut 67. Objects 11 to be processed, eg., at a printing machine (15 figure 1) are taken up from a feed conveyor (16A) one by one in the clamp and presented to the printing station (15) before being placed on an exit conveyor (16E). There is a change in the orientation (see, figure 3) of the objects 11 to be processed from the feed conveyor (16A) to the printing station (15) and than to the exit conveyor (16A).
