Abstract

Transgenic non-human animal that overexpresses the gene of p-enolpyruvate carboxykinase for use in the study of diabetes mellitus and in the development of therapeutic approaches to the disease. Refers to a minigene that uses a part of the PEPCK (P-enolpyruvate carboxy kinase) gene and cDNA (complementary DNA) or a modified PEPCK gene directed by a promoter or promoter fusion. It also refers to an expression vector that allows expressing PEPCK in any cell type and a non-human transgenic animal that expresses a minigene of the PEPCK for use in the study of diabetes mellitus and in the development of therapeutic approaches to the disease. It also refers to a chromosome of the aforementioned non-human transgenic animals that contain the quoted chimeric gene and even minigene or modified PEPCK gene for use in studies on the pathophysiological causes of diabetes mellitus.
