Abstract

Artificial vision system for detecting vehicles circulating in the opposite direction in a highway.The purpose of system that is the object of the invention is to analyse images obtained in a highway or roadway and, using artificial vision techniques, detecting the forward direction of the vehicles that circulate on these and, if it detects one that is moving in the opposite direction, it transmits an alarm signal, which can be used to alert the other the drivers. The system works with any type of artificial or natural lighting. It consists of a CCD camera for capturing colour images and the related optics (1), and an electronic card (2) that is divided into the following modules: image capture (3), RGB to HSI real-time conversion hardware system (4), image pre-processing and analysis (5), communications module (6), and the control module of the entire process (7) based on a DSP.
