Abstract

Diagnosis of Streptococcus via pigment detection comprising avoiding anaerobic incubation of culture plates, to detect Streptococcus agalactiae. The pigment is observed through a transparent e.g. glass sheet applied to the culture agar to force growth at the interface of the culture medium. Alternatively a liquid or gel forming a surface layer can be poured on to the inoculated plate.
