Abstract
Freno Eléctrico por Acumulación para vehículos ferroviarios. Sistema concebido para frenar vehículos ferroviarios mediante la transformación de su energía dinámica en energía eléctrica que se almacena en acumuladores portátiles (instalados en el propio vehículo o en otros vagones de la composición). El sistema está compuesto por un generador eléctrico que se activa, produciendo energía, por el mecanismo de frenada del vehículo al que está vinculado y por un conjunto de elementos en los que se acumula la energía eléctrica generada durante el proceso de frenado. La energía eléctrica generada durante el frenado y acumulada en elementos portátiles puede ser empleada posteriormente para el propio servicio del tren (tracción, iluminación o cualquier otra finalidad), o aplicada a otra red para otros usos mediante, la extracción física de los acumuladores eléctricos cargados o bien mediante su conexión directa a dicha red durante los periodos en los que el tren se encuentra parado.
