Abstract

A process for feeding reaction gas and solid particles to a suspension smelting furnace (SSF) comprising at least tubes for receiving the reaction gas and solid particles and for conveying these substances into the SSF is disclosed. At least the major part of the reaction gas is introduced into the SSF by a reaction gas channel (3) which surrounds the channel for feeding the solid particles. The process is novel in that the gas flow is controlled to be infinitely variable by controlling elements (8) fitted at the outlet end of the gas tube. Also claimed is the equipment required for this process with the controlling elements (8) connected together by a connecting element (9) arranged around the reaction gas channel.
