Abstract

El alineamiento de los segmentos que componen una superficie óptica segmentada, ya sea formada por espejos o por lentes, es uno de los factores que afectan generalmente con más severidad en la calidad óptica del sistema óptico completo. Cada segmento debe estar bien ajustado, tanto en inclinación (tilt) como en desplazamiento longitudinal (pistón), en relación con los segmentos restantes. Es ampliamente conocido que el sensor Hartmann-Shack es muy eficiente para detectar inclinaciones locales (tilt local) del frente de onda, pero es muy inadecuado para detectar pistón local. Se expone un sistema basado en el uso de un sensor Hartmann-Shack [4] y un sensor de curvatura [5] para detectar los errores de alineamiento de los elementos de una superficie óptica segmentada. Ambos sensores pueden ser alimentados por un haz a través de un divisor de haz, dicroico o espejo plano para conmutar ambas direcciones [3]. Esta invención puede ser útil en áreas o aplicaciones que se requiera segmentar el frente de onda y, por tanto, precisar un alineamiento de los elementos que producen la segmentación. Se aplica al caso particular de un espejo primario segmentado de un telescopio grande con elementos en forma de hexágonos. Este sistema puede funcionar con haces ópticos procedentes de fuentes estelares, facilitando así la optimización de la calidad óptica durante las actividades de observación astronómico.
