Abstract

A method and an apparatus are described for manufacturing an article in particular a plastic article (24), having a front side (42) which is loosely covered by a cover (38) attached to the nearside (48) of the article. So as not to impair the structural and material properties of the cover (38) during manufacture of the article, the article (24), which may be formed by injection moulding, is intimately covered at its front side (42) with a cover (38) which lies loosely against the article (24) and projects with an edge over the rear side (48) of the article (24). A plastic body (52) is subsequently injection moulded on the rear side (48) of the article (24) and is fixedly joined to the associated section (46) of the projecting cover edge. The so-called multiple shot moulding is expediently used in the process.
