Abstract
When switching between sinusoidal and square-wave modulation in the supply of a three-phase motor by an inverter 20, the zero crossing instant of the alternating supply voltage of one of the phases is recognised and the modulation is switched coincident with that instant. Into the voltage pulse applied to that phase, immediately prior to or following the modulation switching, depending on whether the switching takes place from square-wave modulation to sinusoidal modulation or vice-versa, a correction is applied which reduces the area of the pulse by a quantity proportional to the period and to the amplitude of the said sinusoidal modulation. Control of the inverter 20 is obtained by means of a counter 28, EPROM's 29, 30, 31, 43 and 50 and a logic control 48.
