Abstract

A conventional climatic chamber has been modified by means of the inclusion of a zirconium oxide cell for the indirect measurement of the water content (humidity) in the artificial atmosphere inside the chamber. This climatic chamber is characterized in that it has a zirconium probe 1, calibration and reference mechanisms 2, equipment controllers 3, heat/cold equipment 4, humidification/dehumidification equipment 5, and it is capable of measuring and controlling humidity and temperature levels between -20 degree C and 180 degree C at any humidity value less than or equal to that of saturation. Its operation may be controlled by means of a computer 6. The principle advantage of this climatic chamber is that it will make it possible to carry out tests on the effect of humidity over wider ranges of temperature than was possible hitherto, providing better control of the quality of products manufactured by producers in sectors as diverse as the food, photographic, plastics, medicinal products, electronics industries, etc., and by authorities responsible for monitoring compliance with quality standards.
