Abstract

The process for obtaining glass microspheres from coal slag comprises the process of conveying the coal slag to a drying furnace, after drainage of the incorporated water, the coal slag being dried until it has a moisture content of between 0 and 3%, subsequently subjecting this to a selection stage to select slag not exceeding 800 microns, discarding the remainder, and subsequently passing this through a conversion stage using a flame produced by a burner 16 and protected by a protective chamber 17, converting the coal slag into glass microspheres, clumped microspheres which have clustered configurations being recycled and passing through a second stage of treatment through the flame, with the possibility that the flame action may be replaced by an installation through which the slags can pass without contact with a flame and a temperature which varies between 1400 degree C and 1600 degree C, producing the same change.
