Abstract

The new strain is a variety of Haloferax gibbonsii deposited as CECT 4547 and is obtained by a series of subcultures of the Ma 2.39 wild strain of Haloferax gibbonsii on solid-medium plates at 37 degree C for several days. Halocin H7 is a protein having a molecular weight of 30,500 +- 500 and is obtained by culturing strain CECT 4547 with aeration at some 37 degree C, separating out the cells and submitting the culture broth to ultrafiltration and protein purification techniques. Application in the field of microbiology.
