Abstract

New lead dioxide electrodes, process for their manufacture and their applications The electrode comprises a valve metal support, an interphase based on titanium salts and a lead dioxide coating. The process comprises: (a) physical treatment of the surface of the valve metal support by sandblasting; (b) chemical treatment of the said surface in two stages: (i) pickling with oxalic acid and (ii) treatment with a solution of titanium (IV) salts to produce the interphase, and (c) electrodeposition of the lead dioxide from solutions containing lead (II) under the effect of an ultrasound field. Application in the electrosynthesis of organic products, the generation of halogens and wastewater purification treatments, among others.
