Abstract

The fuel tank system, for liquid fuel of an internal-combustion engine for motor vehicles, has a fuel tank 1 with at least two tank pars 1' and 1" connected to one another by means of an overflow 1"', a forward-flow line 3 for supplying fuel from tank part 1' to the engine and a return line 4 for returning fuel from the engine to tank part 1'. A hydrodynamic suction device 7 is arranged on the return line 4 and operated by the fuel flowing back from the engine. Separate suction lines 8 lead from each tank parts 1' and 1" to the suction device 7, and the filling means 2 opens only into the tank part 1'. The return line 4 has an outflow opening 5 into the other tank part 1". The tank is simpler to construct and produce and can be filled quickly.
