Abstract

A method for manufacturing grommet elements consisting of a sleeve-plate with elements for positioning and fastening to a metal plate separating an engine compartment from a passenger area, the grommet containing electrical wires, and providing insulation from noise and from the flow of liquids and gases, includes at least, the operations of a) Insulation of the bundle of wires under pressure by the injection of glue at a high temperature in between the wires in the bundle, and b) Surface moulding of PVC or thermoplastic elastomers to give shape to the grommet element as needed. A mould which can be utilized in the method has wire closures 13d, 13i, 14d, 14 mounted on supports 1i, 12i, 12s, 13d, located at either end of mould 10 having a cavity 17 Fig. 2 not shown to which glue can be charged via duct 16.
