SE CARACTERIZA PORQUE COMPRENDE UNA REDUCCION ELECTROQUIMICA DE 1,2 DICETONAS CON DIHALUROS DE IMIDOILO, SOMETIENDO A UN POTENCIAL ELECTRICO UNA CELULA ELECTROLITICA DOTADA AL MENOS DE ANODO Y CATODO, EN PRESENCIA DE UN SISTEMA DISOLVENTE-ELECTROLITO, TAL COMO DIMETILFORMAMIDA-PERCLORATO DE LITIO VENTAJOSAMENTE LA CELULA ELECTROLITICA ESTA DIVIDIDA EN DOS COMPARTIMIENTOS, ANODICO Y CATODICO, SEPARADOS POR UNA MEMBRANA POROSA. EL PROCEDIMIENTO TAMBIEN SE CARACTERIZA PORQUE SE PUEDEN EMPLEAR COMO ELECTRODOS, CARBON, GRAFITO, COBRE, PALADIO, ACERO INOXIDABLE, PLATA, CROMO, NIQUEL, PLOMO, ORO, ALEACIONES METALICAS, MERCURIO Y PLATINO, Y EL POTENCIAL ELECTRICO PUEDE SER APLICADO RESPECTO A UN ELECTRODO DE REFERENCIA, TAL COMO ELECTRODOS DE CALOMELANOS SATURADOS.
