EL SISTEMA OPTICO DISPONE ADEMAS DE DOS ESPEJOS DEFLECTORES SECUNDARIOS SEPARADOS, ASI COMO DE ESPEJOS DEFLECTORES TERCIARIOS, PARA LA CONCENTRACION DEL RAYO EN UN PUNTO FOCAL COMUN. TANTO LOS ESPEJOS PRIMARIOS COMO LOS ESPEJOS DEFLECTORES SECUNDARIOS SON DEFLECTORES CONOCIDOS COMO OFF-AXIS, POR EJEMPLO SUS SUPERFICIES REPRESENTAN SECCIONES DE LA SUPERFICIE DE UN CUERPO DE ESPEJO GRANDE, HIPOTETICAMENTE ESFERICO. LOS ESPEJOS PRIMARIOS, COMO SECCIONES DE LA SUPERFICIE DE UN GRAN ESPEJO HIPOTETICAMENTE HIPERBOLICO, ESTAN INCLINADOS EN UN ANGULO CON RESPECTO AL EJE OPTICO COMUN Y ESTAN SITUADOS A UNA DISTANCIA PREDETERMINADA, DE TAL MODO QUE EL RAYO MARGINAL INTERNO DE LA RADIACION INCIDENTE SE ENCUENTRA MAS CERCA CON EL EJE OPTICO.
