Abstract

Pulsation device to be connected to fermentation equipment, enzymatic reactors or chemical reactors. This device is characterized by allowing the introduction of a liquid mass in pulsating form into a system in which there is produced a conversion due to microbial (fermentor), enzymatic (enzymatic reactor) or chemical (chemical reactor) action. This pulsation generates a disturbance in the form of a square wave in the liquid phase of the equipment, without causing back mixing. The pulsating device, or pulsator, consists of an electrovalve, a flexible membrane tube and a cyclic timer which controls the closing and opening times of the valve. Using this device it is possible to increase the efficiency (rate and yield) of the conversion which takes place in said reactors, as a result of which it has applications in the fermentation industry (food, pharmaceuticals) and in the chemical industry.
