Abstract

A process for treatment of the liquid effluent from the leather and tanning industries. It is characterized in that (i) a prior analysis must be made of the effluent (ii) the cationic interchange capacity of the soil must be determined (iii) the duration of the periods of flow and drying must be 15-30 days (iv) there must be abundant organic matter in the first 40 centimetres of the soil (v) the soils and effluents must be basic and the conditions aerobic (vi) the soils must be clayey (vii) the land must be analysed after each period of drying. Application for the treatment of contaminating effluent from the leather and tanning industries.
