Abstract

A hand-held taping apparatus (10) for wallboard (drywall) has a barrel (12) provided with a pistol grip (14) at one end for manipulating the apparatus and a head (36) mounted on the other end of the barrel for directing and dispensing joint adhesive beneath tape dispensed by rollers (52) supported on the head above the adhesive dispensing nozzle. The adhesive flows through a hose 24 to the barrel and head from a pump mounted on an adhesive reservoir. A trigger (26) on the barrel can electrically shutdown the pump motor and simultaneously close a valve in the barrel (12) to prevent additional unwanted adhesive flow through the barrel and head. Arms extending from the rear end of the barrel carry a tape roll, the tape from which may be cut into lengths by a knife element on top of the barrel.
