Abstract

This filter for liquids, in particular engine lubricating oils, consists of a cup-shaped filter housing with a sealed cover, a replaceable filter element, and a relief valve that is arranged, near the housing cover, between the space for the unfiltered liquid and that for the filtered liquid. The relief valve is directly fixed to the housing cover. The several variants claimed include the valve being fixed to the housing cover through an adapter. USE/ADVANTAGE - Construction is simple, and the relief valve can be retained (not discarded with the old filter element as in some designs) when the element is being changed.
