Abstract

In a supporting device for a matrix print head (12), the latter and a first rocker (26) carrying a sensor (34) for determining the thickness of a recording carrier (32) are mounted on a bearing surface (16) so as to be able to turn about axes (22, 24) parallel to each other and to the support (30) for the recording carrier (32), the print head (12) being adjustable relative to the support (30) depending upon the distance of the sensor (34) from the latter. The print head (12) is secured to a second rocker (28), which is aligned in a direction essentially parallel to the first rocker (26) and is supported via a mounting (38) on the first rocker (26).
