Process for the preparation of a new phenylpropionic derivative, specifically a zinc compound of 2-(3- benzoylphenyl)propionic acid of formula I < IMAGE > which is based on the reaction of 2-(3-benzoylphenyl)- propionic acid with zinc oxide, hydroxides, carbonates or salts, or by reacting a salt of 2-(3-benzoylphenyl)- propionic acid with a zinc salt. The new compound has anti-inflammatory/antirheumatic activity and protective activity.
