Abstract
Lauter tuns contain a multi-arm, rotatable breaking-up device (13) which can be raised and lowered and is used, during the running-off process, to loosen the layer of draff which has settled on the screening floor 16 of the lauter tun 10. After completion of the filtering process, the draff is removed through discharging apertures 9 in the screening floor 16. A draff removal bar 20 is articulated for this purpose to one or more of the arms 14 of the breaking-up device 19 and, in the lowered operating position, carries the draff along concomitantly as it circulates and pushes it towards the discharging apertures 9 in the screening floor 16. In this process, pieces of draff also slide backwards over the said draff removal bars 20 which prolongs the draff removal process. The invention avoids this disadvantage in that there is additionally articulated to the arm 14 supporting a draff removal bar 20 in each case at least one forwards running or backwards running draff removal bar 200. The annular path of movement of the latter overlaps the draff discharging apertures 9. The forwards running or backwards running draff removal bar 200 can be raised and lowered together with the main draff removal bar 20. Pieces of draff which slip backwards across the main draff removal bar 20 are carried along concomitantly by the backwards running draff removal bar 200 towards the discharging apertures 9. Pieces of draff which slip over a forwards running draff removal bar, on the other hand, are carried along concomitantly by the main draff removal bar towards the discharging apertures 9. The draff removal process is shortened as a result.
