Abstract

An iron stand 1 for an electrically heatable iron has an appliance plug 5 which may be connected both to the stand and also to the iron. Surfaces 7, 8, (Fig 1) and stop 4 or stand 1 support the iron lugs 9 and 10 cooperate with recesses 12, 13 on the plug. A locking pawl 11 is selectively movable to engage a locking surface 14 of the plug 5 to lock the plug to the stand, such locking releasing another locking mechanism 22 between the plug 5 and the iron for corded operation. An eccentric lever 23 can move a push rod 21 to a position in which plug 5 is locked to both the iron and the stand.
