Abstract

Hydrocarbon(s) (I) is oxidised with oxygen contg. oxidising gas (II) under following conditions: (1) (II) is suppled into vertically flowing as fine bubbles and, (2) (I) flows continuously and is mixed by bubbled (II) and baffle plate(s). - Pref. cylindrical reactor is separated into cells by porous arms one or two baffle plate(s), is are set between two arms. Arsm are fixed by couplers and each other distance between arms is at least 400mm. (I) is fed to reactor and allowed to flow horizontally, (II) is charged into (I) through porous arms as fine bubbles vertically. (I) running above the porous arms is raised by (II), lower part 8I) flows to next cell as such. Being over one baffle plate, raised (I) is lowered to mix with lower flow of (I), as a result, (I) is mised sufficiently to prevent formation of undesired byproducts on partial over oxidation.
