Abstract

A device for protecting electrical equipment having flammable components such as washing machines, driers, dishwashers, refrigerators against fire, comprises at least one container (21) containing a fire-extinguishing substance, said container being designed to open so as to deliver the fire-extinguishing material automatically directly from the container by means of ducts (22) when flames are present and/or when the temperature exceeds a specified threshold value. The container may have honeycombs having holes closed by a covering or film which self-destructs or may be provided into distribution ducts designed to break or melt.
