Abstract
Process for magnetically stirring during the solidifaction phase a metal bar (2) being produced by continuous casting with the aid of a permanent magnet (6) arranged on the bar and of direct current (4) supplied to the bar. A stirring movement is generated in the bar by simple means and at low operating costs, advantageous in particular for horizontal continuous casting processes, on the basis of the known process of influencing by conduction a metal cast bar. The stirring movement applies a force to the metal, preferably iron, steel and their alloys, that influences the solidifying particles of material, in particular globulites, in the circumferential direction, dissociating them as homogeneously as possible. The bar is exposed over its entire circumference to the influence of the magnetic fields of the permanent magnet (6), in such a manner that the magnetic fields are radially supplied and with a longitudinally alternating polar sequence.
