Description

  • The present invention relates to a cooking device comprising an ionizer which enables the filtering of odors emitted from the foodstuffs being cooked.
  • During the cooking process, odors such as those caused by the cooking duration, burning due to incorrect cooking, and the smell of the cooked foodstuff are released from the foodstuff being cooked in the cooking device and spread into the environment. Since gas-powered cooking devices are required to have a chimney, the odor of the cooked foodstuff may be released directly into the environment. Furthermore, due to the foodstuff being cooked or improper use in gas ovens, waste gases such as CO2 and CO may be released into the environment. Although these gases may not reach levels which affect human health, they reduce the air quality in the environment and cause discomfort during the use of the cooking device.
  • In the state of the art, exhaust hoods are used to prevent the spread of the odor and smoke from the cooked foodstuff into the environment. However, there is no existing embodiment for the removal of CO2 and CO waste gases from the environment.
  • In the state of the art Chinese Patent Application No. CN105698249 , an oven comprising an air purifier device is disclosed.
  • The aim of the present invention is the realization of a cooking device comprising an ionizer which enables the filtering of odors emitted from the foodstuffs being cooked.
  • The cooking device realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, explicated in the first claim and the respective claims thereof, comprises a cooking chamber; a door; a chimney having a chimney inlet which is provided on a wall of the cooking chamber and a chimney outlet which opens to the outer environment; an energy source; and an ionizer which is positioned so as to completely cover the cross-sectional surface area of the chimney and which has a first grill and a second grill, which are electrically connected to the energy source, and a filter placed between the first and second grill.
  • In the embodiment of the present invention, the ionization of air throughout the entire area is ensured by means of the first grill and the second grill and the filter located therebetween. By means of the filter placed between the first and second grills, the waste gases and odor are enabled to be combined with the ionized air so as to ensure the precipitation of the waste gases and the retention of the odor. Thus, since the odor and waste gases exiting the chimney pass through the ionized medium, the spread of odor and waste gases into the environment is prevented.
  • In the embodiment of the present invention, the energy source is connected to the mains voltage and applies approximately 7 kV DC voltage to the first grill and the second grill. In this embodiment of the present invention, the positive terminal of the energy source is connected to the first grill, while the negative terminal is connected to the second grill. Thus, electrons are removed from the air on the entire surface of the first and second grills so as to ensure the ionization of the air. In the cooking devices, especially gas and electric ovens, the odor emitted into the environment from the foodstuff being cooked during the cooking process is passed through the filter, thereby reducing the release rate thereof into the environment. Furthermore, waste gases such as CO2 and CO which may be released into the environment due to overcooking of the foodstuff or particularly due to incorrect use of the gas oven are enabled to be precipitated, thus preventing their release into the environment.
  • In the embodiment of the present invention, the ionizer is an IFD filter.
  • In the embodiment of the present invention, the holes on the first grill and the second grill are not aligned with each other. Thus, the exposure time and the distance traveled by the waste gases in the ionized air inside the ionizer are increased so as to enable more waste gases and odor to be filtered. By means of this embodiment of the present invention, the area contacted by the waste gases and odor inside the ionizer, and consequently the circulation path, are increased. In another embodiment of the present invention, there is a distance of 1.5-2 mm between the first grill and the second grill. This distance allows the formation of a current which will ionize the air between the first and second grills. By means of the voltage applied to the first and second grills, voltage is generated across the entire surface of the first and second grills, and a current is formed between the first and second grills, causing electrons to be removed and the air to be ionized. In this embodiment of the present invention, the first and second grills do not contact each other under any circumstance.
  • In the embodiment of the present invention, the ionizer is placed at the chimney outlet. Thus, the waste gases and odor released into the environment are enabled to be filtered.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the ionizer can be easily mounted at the chimney outlet such that no gap remains between the ionizer and the chimney walls. Thus, serviceability is ensured. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the position of the ionizer inside the chimney is 20-30 mm inward from the chimney outlet. Thus, the odor is retained in the ionizer, and the precipitation of CO and CO2 in the chimney is ensured. Moreover, since the ionizer is installed near the chimney outlet, foreign objects falling into the chimney from the outside are also prevented from reaching the interior of the cooking device. By means of the present invention, since the ionizer is mounted at the chimney outlet in the ovens, undesired odors such as cooking odors generated during the cooking process are enabled to be filtered and prevented from being released into the environment. Thus, the air quality of the environment is improved. Consequently, the unnecessary operation of the exhaust hood is also prevented.
  • In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the ionizer has the shape of an equilateral trapezoid.
  • By means of the present invention, although the release rate of odor and waste gases into the environment is high due to the necessity of having a large chimney cross-sectional area especially in the gas ovens, the odor molecules exiting the chimney are captured, thereby eliminating the disadvantage caused by the large chimney structure. Similarly, in the gas cooking devices in particular, the waste gas molecules generated due to improper use in the oven section or the burning of foodstuff are passed through the ionized environment so as to allow their retention and precipitation in the chimney. Thus, the cooking process is performed without a decrease in environmental air quality.
  • A cooking device realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where:
    • Figure 1 - is the schematic view of a cooking device together with the chimney.
    • Figure 2 - is the perspective view of the ionizer.

  • The cooking device (1) comprises a cooking chamber (2); a door; a chimney (3) having a chimney inlet (4) which is provided on a wall of the cooking chamber (2) and a chimney outlet (5) which opens to the outer environment; an energy source (10); and an ionizer (6) which is positioned so as to completely cover the cross-sectional surface area of the chimney (3) and which has a first grill (7) and a second grill (8), which are electrically connected to the energy source (10), and a filter (9) placed between the first and second grill (7, 8) (Figure 1).
  • In the embodiment of the present invention, the ionization of air throughout the entire area is ensured by means of the first grill (7) and the second grill (8) and the filter (9) located therebetween. By means of the filter (9) placed between the first and second grills (7 and 8), the waste gases and odor are enabled to be combined with the ionized air so as to ensure the precipitation of the waste gases and the retention of the odor. Thus, since the odor and waste gases exiting the chimney (3) pass through the ionized medium, the spread of odor and waste gases into the environment is prevented.
  • In the embodiment of the present invention, the energy source (10) is connected to the mains voltage and applies approximately 7 kV DC voltage to the first grill (7) and the second grill (8). In this embodiment of the present invention, the positive terminal of the energy source (10) is connected to the first grill (7), while the negative terminal is connected to the second grill (8) (Figure 3). Thus, electrons are removed from the air on the entire surface of the first and second grills (7 and 8) so as to ensure the ionization of the air. In the cooking devices (1), especially gas and electric ovens, the odor emitted into the environment from the foodstuff being cooked during the cooking process is passed through the filter (9), thereby reducing the release rate thereof into the environment. Furthermore, waste gases such as CO2 and CO which may be released into the environment due to overcooking of the foodstuff or particularly due to incorrect use of the gas oven are enabled to be precipitated, thus preventing their release into the environment.
  • In the embodiment of the present invention, the ionizer (6) is an IFD filter.
  • In the embodiment of the present invention, the holes on the first grill (7) and the second grill (8) are not aligned with each other. Thus, the exposure time and the distance traveled by the waste gases in the ionized air inside the ionizer (6) are increased so as to enable more waste gases and odor to be filtered. By means of this embodiment of the present invention, the area contacted by the waste gases and odor inside the ionizer (6), and consequently the circulation path, are increased.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, there is a distance of 1.5-2 mm between the first grill (7) and the second grill (8). This distance allows the formation of a current which will ionize the air between the first and second grills (7 and 8). By means of the voltage applied to the first and second grills (7 and 8), voltage is generated across the entire surface of the first and second grills (7 and 8), and a current is formed between the first and second grills (7 and 8), causing electrons to be removed and the air to be ionized. In this embodiment of the present invention, the first and second grills (7 and 8) do not contact each other under any circumstance.
  • In the embodiment of the present invention, the ionizer (6) is placed at the chimney outlet (5). Thus, the waste gases and odor released into the environment are enabled to be filtered.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the ionizer (6) can be easily mounted at the chimney outlet (5) such that no gap remains between the ionizer (6) and the chimney (3) walls. Thus, serviceability is ensured. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the position of the ionizer (6) inside the chimney (3) is 20-30 mm inward from the chimney outlet (5). Thus, the odor is retained in the ionizer (6), and the precipitation of CO and CO2 in the chimney (3) is ensured. Moreover, since the ionizer (6) is installed near the chimney outlet (5), foreign objects falling into the chimney (3) from the outside are also prevented from reaching the interior of the cooking device (1). By means of the present invention, since the ionizer (6) is mounted at the chimney outlet (5) in the ovens, undesired odors such as cooking odors generated during the cooking process are enabled to be filtered and prevented from being released into the environment. Thus, the air quality of the environment is improved. Consequently, the unnecessary operation of the exhaust hood is also prevented.
  • In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the ionizer (6) has the shape of an equilateral trapezoid (Figure 2 and Figure 4).
  • By means of the present invention, although the release rate of odor and waste gases into the environment is high due to the necessity of having a large chimney (3) cross-sectional area especially in the gas ovens, the odor molecules exiting the chimney (3) are captured, thereby eliminating the disadvantage caused by the large chimney (3) structure. Similarly, in the gas cooking devices (1) in particular, the waste gas molecules generated due to improper use in the oven section or the burning of foodstuff are passed through the ionized environment so as to allow their retention and precipitation in the chimney (3). Thus, the cooking process is performed without a decrease in environmental air quality.
