Description

    FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates to corner bead holders and in particular to corner bead holders fixing corner beads to wall corners in an adjustable way.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • Corner beads, auxiliary devices for leveling a wall corner (usually vertical), are well known in the art as an essential component in construction and renovation projects. They enable a smooth finish and protect corners from damage. They need to be fixed in place before plastering commence and to be aligned with the ceiling, the walls and the other corners.
  • Fixing the corner bead to the wall is normally done by nails, although screws or some adhesive material can be used. When the corner bead is too far from the wall and the nail is not long enough, cement or other material needs to be applied on the wall, in order to shorten the distance between the wall and the corner bead. Then the corner bead needs to be fixed by cement, or other plastering material, and a wait of twenty-four hours is needed before the plastering work can commence. It is time and material consuming, and if a mistake is done in leveling the corner bead, the entire leveling process needs to occur again, as the cement is dry and the corner bead is fixed without the possibility to slightly move.
  • Different attempts were made in order to overcome the disadvantages mentioned above, such as in PCT Patent Application Publication No. WO2018134807A1 , disclosing an attaching and adjusting device, comprising: an elongated flat body having a first widthwise edge and a second widthwise edge; an attaching member attached to the first widthwise edge, wherein the attaching member is configured to attach to a first elongated element or a second elongated element of a corner profile; and a slot along the elongated flat body, wherein the slot is configured to accommodate a fastener and slide over the fastener, wherein the fastener is configured to fasten the corner profile attaching and adjusting device to a wall. However, the fasteners are apart, therefore it is difficult to adjust them simultaneously.
  • PCT Patent Application Publication No. WO2019008568A1 discloses a device for the alignment of corner beads for wall plastering, by having an L shaped clip which is clipped to the corner bead and a clip guide inserted into the walls. The clip can be moved in the clip guide, and hence moved relative to the walls. Once in place, the corner bead is permanently held in place by applying plaster, after which the clip guide is removed. However, this patent application is very limited to a specific corner bead having squared holes, as the clip is clipped into the squared holes, the connection to the wall must be with screws, and the clip guides are two separate parts, therefore again it is difficult to adjust them simultaneously. Furthermore, the corner to which fasten the corner bead must be a 90 degrees corner.
  • It is an object of the present invention to provide a corner bead holder that significantly reduces or overcomes the aforementioned disadvantages. Furthermore, it is an object of the present invention to provide a corner bead holder which fastens and adjusts easily the corner bead. Furthermore, it is an object of the present invention to provide a corner bead holder which fits any corner bead and any corner, and can still be fastened to the wall in any desired way.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • In accordance with the present invention, there is provided a corner bead holder to fix a corner bead to a wall corner having:
    • a first part to be inserted into the corner bead, having at least two shanks extending from a protruding part, the protruding part is inserted into a notch of the corner bead;
    • a second part to be attached to the wall corner, having at least two legs extending from a corner junction, each leg having an outer surface and a rail created by a stopper above the outer surface; wherein
the shank of the first part is inserted into the rail of the second part.
  • In accordance with embodiments of the present invention, the shank of the first part is moved along the rail of the second part in a forward direction defined away from the corner junction and in a backward direction defined towards the corner junction.
  • In accordance with embodiments of the present invention, the shank of the first part has a jagged surface to fit in a jagged surface of the leg of the second part.
  • In accordance with some embodiments of the present invention, the first part corner bead holder includes ears.
  • In accordance with some embodiments of the present invention, each stopper has at least one protrusion and each leg includes at least one protrusion lock having a lock hole.
  • In accordance with some embodiments of the present invention, when the protrusion lock is folded, at least one protrusion is inserted into the lock hole of the protrusion lock.
  • In accordance with some embodiments of the present invention, when the at least one protrusion is folded, the protrusion is inserted into the lock hole of the protrusion lock.
  • In accordance with some embodiments of the present invention, only when a teeth lock is pushed down and in the forward direction away from the corner junction, the jagged surface of the first part fit in the jagged surface of the leg of the second part.
  • In accordance with some embodiments of the present invention, each leg of the second part is attached to the wall corner by adhesive material.
  • In accordance with some embodiments of the present invention, each leg of the second part comprises a screw hole and each leg is attached to the wall corner by a screw via the screw hole.
  • In accordance with some embodiments of the present invention, each leg of the second part comprises a screw hole and each leg is attached to the wall corner by a nail via the screw hole.
  • In accordance with some embodiments of the present invention, the protruding part has a top part and a bottom part; the top part of the protruding part is wider than the bottom part of the protruding part.
  • The present invention has the preferred advantages as to an improved corner bead holder, which fastens and adjusts the corned bead without the need of any additional materials or tools. Furthermore, the improved corner bead holder enables the corner bead to be fixed at a bigger distance from the wall, and be adjusted in a forward direction defined towards the wall and in a backward direction away from the wall.
  • Further or additional preferred advantages of the present invention are obvious from the general discussion above as well as the detailed discussion of the invention as provided below. In particular, the present invention provides an improved corner bead holder, which offers minimum effort to the user with maximum precision of the location of the corner bead, ready to level and plaster.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PRESENT INVENTION
  • Attention is drawn to Fig. 1, showing a corner bead 10 in accordance with the present invention. The corner bead 10 in this description may represent a regular corner bead as known in the art, having stripes 12 to be fixed into a wall corner 14 (seen for example in Fig. 5) via nails inserted in apertures (not seen) on the stripes 12. The corner bead 10 has two flanges 16 extending from a notch 18 outward.
  • Attention is drawn to Figs. 2 and 3, showing a corner bead holder 20. The corner bead holder 20 has a first part 22 and a second part 24. The first part 22 is made of flexible material and has two shanks 26 extending from a protruding part 28, each shank 26 has an inner surface 30 and an outer surface 32. The protruding part 28 has a top part 33 and a bottom part 35. The protruding part 28 has a mushroom-like shape, similar to the shape of the notch 18 of the corner bead, i.e. the top part 33 of the protruding part 28 is thicker than the bottom part 35 of the protruding part 28. The inner surface 30 includes a jagged surface 34, i.e. having teeth 36. The first part 22 has ears 38 to prevent movement of the first part 22 in relation to the corner bead 10 when inserted into the corner bead 10. The second part 24 has two legs 40 extending from a corner junction 42, each leg 40 has an inner surface 44 and an outer surface 46. Each leg 40 further includes a rail 48 created by a stopper 50 above the outer surface 46. The outer surface 46 includes a jagged surface 52, i.e. having teeth 54. Each stopper 50 has two protrusion 56 and each leg 40 has two lock protrusions 58. Each lock protrusions 58 has a lock hole 60 to accommodate the protrusion 56 in its locked position. Furthermore, each leg 40 has a screw hole 62 to accommodate a screw or a nail (not seen) if needed.
  • In accordance with some embodiments of the present invention, the jugged surfaces may be on a different surface, meaning the outer surface 32 includes the jagged surface 34 to fit in the jagged surface 52 located on the stopper 50 or another surface which can fit.
  • Attention is drawn to Fig. 4, showing the first part 22 of the corner bead holder 20 inserted to the second part 24. The shanks 26 of the first part 22 are inserted into the rail 48 of the second part 24, with part of the jagged surface 34 of the shank inner surface 30 of the first part 22 abutting the jagged surface 52 of the outer surface 46 of the leg 40 of the second part 24, therefore the teeth 36 of the shank inner surface 30 fit in the teeth 54 of the leg outer surface 46, and the stopper 50 fixes it in the desired location. The shank 26 is inserted as far as desired, and the movement is bidirectional, i.e., the shank 26 of the first part 22 may be moved along the rail 48 of the second part 24 in a forward direction defined away from the corner junction 42 and in a backward direction defined towards the corner junction 42. Furthermore, the lock protrusion 58 can be folded up so that the lock hole 60 may accommodate the protrusion 56, to create a locked position, which prevents any movement of the first part 22 in relation to the second part 24 when inserted into the second part 24. Alternatively, the protrusion 56 can be folded up so that the lock hole 60 accommodates the protrusion 56.
  • In accordance with some embodiments of the present invention, there is an additional teeth lock (not seen) on the stopper 50, which only when the teeth lock is pushed down and in the forward direction away from the corner junction 42, the jagged surface 34 of the first part 22 fit in the jagged surface 52 of the leg 40 of the second part 24, and therefore locks the teeth and prevents further movement.
  • Fig. 5 shows the fixation of the second part 24 of the corner bead holder 20 on the wall corner 14. Each leg 40 is attached to the wall corner 14 by adhesive material, glue, silicon, or any other preferred material, or, if desired, by a screw or a nail (not seen) via the screw hole 62. Once attached to the wall corner 14, the second part 24 is ready to receive the first part 22 via the rail 48.
  • Attention is drawn to Fig. 6, showing the first part 22 of the corner bead holder 20 inserted into the corner bead 10. The protruding part 28 of the first part 22 is inserted into the notch 18 of the corner bead 10, in such a way that the top part 33 of the mushroom-like shape of the protruding part 28 is inserted into the notch 18 and the bottom part 35 of the protruding part 28 out of the notch 18, therefore the protruding part is fixed securely inside the notch 18. The ears 38 prevent the first part 22 from moving between the flanges 16, therefore keeping it steady and firm. The protruding part 28 of the first part 22 may slide along the notch 18 of the corner bead 10, in order to be able to fix the corner bead 10 on different heights, to be able to insert a few corner bead holders for a greater strength, and to finally fix the corner bead 10 in the exact desired location.
  • Once the first part 22 of the corner bead holder 20 is inserted into the corner bead 10, and the second part 24 of the corner bead holder 20 is attach to the wall corner 14, the corner bead 10 may be fixed on the wall corner 14 with the corner bead holder 20, as can be seen in Fig. 7. The first part 22 of the corner bead holder 20 inserted in the corner bead 10 is inserted to the second part 24 of the corner bead holder 20 attached to the wall, and the corner bead is fixed on the wall, with the possibility to adjust it closer or further away from the wall corner 14 and then lock it to be fixed firmly to the wall corner 14 without any further movements.
  • It will be appreciated that the present invention not only provides a simple, precise, firm and easy to use corner bead holder, which can be easily adjusted forward and backward, but at the same time saving time and costs of adjustment repeatedly. The corner bead holder is flexible, therefore can fit any desired corner, and is designed to fit any corner bead.
  • Although the present invention has been described to a certain degree of particularity, it should be understood that various alterations and modifications could be made without departing from the scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.
