Abstract
Un outil chirurgical pouvant vibrer de manière ultrasonique pour le retrait de ciment (7) dans une arthroplastie de révision a une source de vibrations ultrasonores fonctionnellement liée à une pointe fonctionnelle (5) qui agit sur le ciment (7) à l'intérieur d'une lumière (8) d'un os tel qu'un fémur (1). Lors de l'action sur le ciment (7), l'outil vibre sensiblement à une seule fréquence de résonance. Si la pointe fonctionnelle (5) doit entrer en contact avec un matériau dur, tel qu'une paroi osseuse (6) du fémur (1), des vibrations supplémentaires additionnelles sont générées à d'autres fréquences. L'outil comprend un microphone ou un autre détecteur de vibrations pour capter ces vibrations supplémentaires, qui peuvent être dans les plages audibles ou ultrasonores. Lorsque des vibrations supplémentaires sont détectées à des fréquences caractéristiques du contact entre la pointe fonctionnelle (5) et l'os, un utilisateur de l'outil est alerté et le fonctionnement de l'outil est interrompu.
