Description

MANEUVERING SYSTEM
TECHNICAL FIELD
The invention relates to the deactivation of the reverse approach system in the trailer when the tail lift is opened.
The invention relates to the maneuvering system, which deactivates the reverse approach system in the trailer during loading/unloading operations and allows the vehicle to carry our short maneuvers.
PRIOR ART
Today’s trailers are vehicles that are towed by a motor vehicle and that is equipped at least with one axle designed and manufactured according to the characteristics of the load they are designed to carry, and that are coupled to the towing vehicle by means of a coupling device such as a drawbar, pivot plate, hook, kingpin, etc. The semitrailers are road vehicles for load carrying, and are classified as 01 , 02, 03, 04 according to the road regulations.
Trailer vehicles can optionally be equipped with ‘Reverse approaching assistance’. This system detects the objects behind the vehicle during reverse approach and allows a warning to be sent to the driver. Objects behind the trailer vehicle are detected by ultrasonic sensors fitted on the vehicle. The horn lamps in the vehicle are controlled via the system. As the vehicle approaches the object the horn lambs start flashing with a higher frequency and warn the driver. When the set value is reached, it stops the vehicle by applying full brake. The system is activated when the vehicle is put into reverse gear.
Twindeck vehicles are equipped with a tail lift at the rear of the vehicle. These tail lifts are also used as the rear door of the vehicle. When the door is open the ultrasonic sensors of the reverse system are positioned very close to the ground and continuously send warnings to the system due to short distance. When the driver wants to carry out short maneuvers during loading/unloading of the vehicle he cannot move the vehicle.
As a result of researches carried out in the literature, a Turkish patent application with application number “2022/006896“ and invention title “Adjustable Tail Lift Connection Equipment” was found. The said application relates to a tail lift connection equipment, which is used in trailer vehicles towed by a motor vehicle to carry load on highways and consists of a kingpin assembly, an intermediate chassis assembly connected to the rear of the kingpin assembly, an axle set connected to the rear of the intermediate chassis assembly, a rear chassis assembly connected to the rear of the axle set and a tail lift, and which allows the tail lift to be connected to the rear chassis assembly both vertically and horizontally. However, in the said application there is no indication that the reversing assistance system on the trailer is disabled when opening the tail lift to allow the trailer to maneuver during the reverse movement.
As a result of researches carried out in the literature, a Turkish patent application with application number “2020/07623“ and invention title “Improvements Made on the Hydraulic Loading and Unloading Lift” was found. The said application relates to the hydraulic loading and unloading lift, which saves time, space and labor in any section or area where load is lifted, lowered, transported and unloaded in furniture manufacturing, iron joinery and similar industries. However, in the said application there is no indication that the reversing assistance system on the trailer is disabled when opening the tail lift to allow the trailer to maneuver during the reverse movement.
As a result, the issues mentioned above and cannot be solved with the current technique made it necessary to make an innovation in the relevant technical field.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The invention relates to the maneuvering system, which aims to eliminate the above mentioned disadvantages and brings new advantages to the relevant technical field. The main purpose of the invention is to make it possible that the reversing assistance system on the trailer is disabled when opening the tail lift to allow the trailer to maneuver during the reverse movement.
In order to achieve the above mentioned and below detailed purposes, the current invention is a system that allows the reversing assistance system in the trailer to be disabled when opening the tail lift, and includes an ultrasonic sensor connected to the tail lift to detect the objects behind the vehicle during the reverse movement, a distance sensor that transmits an electrical signal by changing the position of the magnets inside the sensor and detects whether the tail lift is closed according to the signal information from the distance sensor, a relay that energizes or de-energizes the ultrasonic sensor according to the signal information from the distance sensor, and an EBS module that receives from the distance sensor the information whether the tail lift is open in order to improve the maneuvering ability during reverse movement of the vehicle by means of an embedded software.
In order to best understand the advantages of the current invention along with the additional components, the invention shall be evaluated along with the figures described below.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
In this detailed description, the safe driving system (the invention) is described solely for the purpose of a better understanding of the subject matter and without any limiting effects.
The maneuvering system includes an ultrasonic sensor (1), a distance sensor (2), relay (3), and EBS module (4). Ultrasonic sensor (1) is a sensor that is connected to the tail lift to enable it to detect objects behind the vehicle during reverse movement. The distance sensor (2) transmits the electrical signal as the magnets in two parts of the sensor close to each other and change their positions. When this happens, it is detected whether the tail lift or front cover is closed. Relay (3) is the switching element that energizes the ultrasonic sensor (1) or de-energizes the ultrasonic sensor (1) according to the signal from the distance sensor (2) by changing the position of the contact inside. The distributor unit is the unit over which the ultrasonic sensor (1) connections are made. The EBS module (4) controls the signals from the sensors. The EBS (4) module is an electronic system that receives information from the distance sensor (2) via the relay (3) about whether the tail lift is open in order to improve the maneuverability of the vehicle during reverse movement by means of the embedded software and turns off the ultrasonic sensor (1) on the tail lift if the tail lift is open.
In vehicles equipped with a maneuvering system, a tail lift and a reverse approach assistance (optional), the reverse approach system is disabled when the tail lift is opened to allow the vehicle to maneuver in a short space.
In vehicles with a tail lift that is optionally equipped with the ultrasonic sensor (1) for reverse movement, the ultrasonic sensors (1) prevent the vehicle from maneuvering as they will detect the ground when the tail lift is activated. Typically, the ultrasonic sensors (1) provide protection while approaching the objects behind the vehicle when the tail lift (rear door of the vehicle) is closed. However, the driver may want to move the vehicle closer to the loading/unloading point by performing a short maneuver while the doors are open. In the current system, the ultrasonic sensors (1) prevent this as they will detect the ground when the doors are open.
When the Twindeck vehicles are equipped with the optional reversing ultrasonic sensor (1) together with the maneuvering system, the driver will be able to do this if they need to carry out short maneuvers during loading/unloading actions. Because, the ultrasonic sensors sensitive to objects in the vehicle (1) will be disabled when the tail lift is opened. When the tail lift is closed, the ultrasonic sensors of the reversing system (1) will be re-activated. The distance sensor (2) on the tail lift transmits to the system the information that the tail lift is open. When the tail lift is opened, these ultrasonic sensors (1) measuring the distance are disabled again. The vehicle is now able to carry out short maneuvers in the loading/unloading area. Once the operation is completed the tail lift is closed. The distance sensor (2) detects that the tail lift is closed. This information is sent to the system. After this, the reversing system sensors are re-activated.
The tail lift is the section at the rearmost side of the vehicle and not only serves as the rear door of the vehicle but also used as a lift during loading/unloading operations. All the Twindeck vehicles manufactured at the Van Eck factory are equipped with a tail lift. There is a distance sensor (2) on the tail lift to detect the distance. This distance sensor (2) changes its position by means of the magnet inside it when the tail lift is closed or opened. In this way, the status information is transmitted to.
In addition, there are ultrasonic sensors (1) fitted on the vehicle’s rear door, which are used for safety purposes during the reverse movement. The ultrasonic sensors (1) detect the objects behind the vehicle. They transmit this information via the cables to the vehicle's EBS (Electronic Breaking System) module (4). The EBS module (4) is a part of the EBS. An audible warning is issued by means of an audible warning unit to warn the driver in the cabin with an increasing frequency as the vehicle approaches the object behind it. The energy of these ultrasonic sensors (1) is controlled via the relay (3). The relay (3) draws current when the tail lift is closed and creates an energy flow to the ultrasonic sensors (1). Thus, the ultrasonic sensors (1) activate. When the tail lift is opened, the contacts of the relay (3) change their positions and the power supply to the ultrasonic sensors (1) is cut off. The ultrasonic sensors (1) controlled by means of a wired connection over the EBS (Electronic Breaking System) module (4) are disabled. The EBS is the “brain” of the vehicle and all functions are managed from there.
If the driver wants to carry out a reverse maneuver while the tail lift is open the ultrasonic sensors (1) above the doors prevent maneuvering, as they will see and detect the ground. This issue is removed when the power supply of the ultrasonic sensors (1) are cut off while the tail lift is open. In such a case, the ultrasonic sensors (1) used for reverse movement are not activated.
