Die Erfindung betrifft eine Vorrichtung und Verfahren zum Bestimmen eines Zustands in einem Stapel von Brennstoffzellen oder Elektrolysezellen oder in einer Brennstoffzelle oder einer Elektrolysezelle.
Beim Design der Polymer-Elektrolyt-Membran Brennstoffzelle ist ihr Verhalten in einer Simulation ermittelbar, die eine Geometrie der Brennstoffzelle berücksichtigt. Diese Simulation erfordert derart viele Rechenressourcen, dass es wünschenswert ist, für eine Bestimmung eines Zustands der Polymer- Elektrolyt-Membran Brennstoffzelle bei einem Betrieb in der Polymer-Elektrolyt- Membran Brennstoffzelle in einem Stapel von Polymer-Elektrolyt-Membran Brennstoffzelle eine verbesserte Simulation bereitzustellen.
Offenbarung der Erfindung
Dies wird durch den Gegenstand der unabhängigen Ansprüche erreicht.
Ein Verfahren zum Bestimmen eines Zustands in einem Stapel von Brennstoffzellen oder Elektrolysezellen oder in einer Brennstoffzelle oder einer Elektrolysezelle, wobei mindestens eine Membran-Elektroden-Einheit und Platten vorgesehen sind, zwischen denen je eine Membran-Elektroden-Einheit angeordnet ist, wobei mit einem ersten Modell Zuläufe von Prozessmedien aus einer Peripherie und Abläufe eines Prozessprodukts in die Peripherie und elektrische Ein- und Ausgangsgrößen modelliert werden, wobei mit einem zweiten Modell Segmente der Platten modelliert werden, wobei mit einem dritten Modell die Membran-Elektroden-Einheit oder Segmente der Membran- Elektroden-Einheit modelliert werden, wobei das erste Modell und das zweite Modell über wenigstens eine Koppelgröße gekoppelt sind, wobei das zweite Modell und das dritte Modell segmentweise über wenigstens eine Koppelgröße gekoppelt sind, wobei wenigstens eine Eingangsgröße des ersten Modells vorgegeben wird, wobei der Zustand mit der wenigstens einen Eingangsgröße, dem ersten Modell, dem zweiten Modell und dem dritten Modell bestimmt wird.
Unter einer Membran-Elektroden-Einheit kann insbesondere mindestens eine ionenleitende Schicht, die sogenannte Membran, und mindestens eine auf einer Seite der ionenleitenden Schicht angeordnete, insbesondere aufgebrachte Elektrodenschicht verstanden werden. Vorzugsweise ist auf beiden Seiten der ionenleitenden Schicht eine Elektrodenschicht angeordnet oder aufgebracht, so dass sich die ionenleitende Schicht (vorzugsweise sandwich-artig) zwischen den beiden Elektrodenschichten befindet. Bevorzugt kann die Membran-Elektroden- Einheit weitere aufgebrachte porösen Schichten umfassen, die der Verteilung (Antransport/Abtransport) der Reaktionsmedien, des Stroms und/oder der Wärme dienen. Die mindestens eine ionenleitende Schicht (Membran), kann hierbei zumindest teilweise als ionenleitendes Polymer (z. B. für eine PEM- Brennstoffzelle, PEM-Elektrolyse, AEM-Brennstoffzelle, AEM-Elektrolyse) und/oder als mit einem ionenleitenden Polymer und/oder einer ionenleitenden Flüssigkeit/Lösung getränkte elektrisch nicht leitende poröse Struktur (z. B. für eine flüssige alkalische Elektrolyse oder im Falle von Redox-Flow-Batterien) und/oder als keramischer lonenleiter (z. B. bei SOFC/SOEC) ausgeführt sein. Die Elektrodenschichten sind typischerweise poröse Schichten, die die kombinierten Funktionen lonentransport, Elektronentransport, Transport der flüssigen und/oder gasförmigen Reaktionsmedien, Wärmetransport und Elektrokatalyse erfüllen. Diese kombinierten Funktionen können in Abhängigkeit der betrachteten Technologie mit einer beliebigen Kombination von elektrokatalytisch aktiven Materialien (Metallen und/oder Metalloxiden und/oder keramischen Materialien) und/oder elektronisch leitfähigen (porösen) Trägermaterialien (Metallen, Kohlenstoffmaterialien, dotierten Metalloxiden,...) und/oder lonenleitern (polymere lonenleiter und/oder flüssige lonenleitern und/oder keramische lonenleiter) bestehen. Die Membran-Elektroden-Einheit kann weitere (meist poröse) Funktionsschichten umfassen, die z. B. der Verteilung der Reaktionsmedien (Antransport der flüssigen und/oder gasförmigen Edukte, Abtransport der flüssigen und/oder gasförmigen Produkte) und/oder dem Transport von Elektronen und von Wärme dienen. Je nach Anwendungsfall kann mindestens eine der Schichten der Membran-Elektroden-Einheit auch mechanische Funktionen haben, z. B. eine Bereitstellung einer Federwirkung oder eine mechanische Abstützung benachbarter Schichten.
Das Verfahren kann vorteilhafterweise auch zum Bestimmen eines Zustands in einer Redox-Flow-Zelle - oder einem Redox-Flow-Zellstapel verwendet werden. Insbesondere, aber nicht ausschließlich geeignet ist das Verfahren zum Bestimmen eines Zustandes in einer NT-PEM Brennstoffzelle, einer HT-PEM- Brennstoffzelle, einer NT-PEM Elektrolysezelle, einer HT-PEM-Elektrolysezelle, einer AEM-Brennstoffzelle, einer AEM-Elektrolysezelle, einer AEL- Elektrolysezelle (klassische flüssige alkalische Elektrolyse), einer SOFC, einer SOEC, einer MCFC/MCEC (Molten Carbonate Fuel Cell/Electrolysis Cell), PAFC/PAEC (Phosphorsaure Brennstoffzelle/Elektrolyse).
Im Folgenden wird das Verfahren im Wesentlichen am Beispiel der PEM- Brennstoffzelle erklärt, ist aber grundsätzlich auf beliebige Brennstoffzellen, Elektrolyse und Redox-Flow-Technologien übertragbar.
Vorzugsweise wird mit dem zweiten Modell ein physikalischer Effekt je Segment oder für ein Bündel von mehreren Segmenten modelliert. Dies verbessert die Simulation zusätzlich.
Vorzugsweise wird mit dem dritten Modell ein physikalischer Effekt der Membran- Elektroden-Einheit oder je Segment der Membran-Elektroden-Einheit modelliert. Dies ermöglicht eine Simulation mit besonders geringen Anforderungen an die Rechenressourcen.
Vorzugsweise wird während eines Betriebs des Stapels, der Brennstoffzelle oder der Elektrolysezelle eine Messung erfasst, die den Betrieb charakterisiert, wobei der Zustand während des Betriebs abhängig von der Messung bestimmt wird. Dadurch wird der Betrieb abhängig von einem Ergebnis der Simulation beeinflussbar. Vorzugsweise wird während des Betriebs eine Größe für den Betrieb, insbesondere eine Betriebsstrategie, eine Ansteuergröße oder eine Regelgröße, abhängig vom Zustand während seines Betriebs bestimmt, und der Stapel, die Brennstoffzelle oder die Elektrolysezelle abhängig von der Größe angesteuert. Dadurch wird der Betrieb abhängig von einem Ergebnis der Simulation beeinflusst.
Vorzugsweise wird abhängig vom Zustand insbesondere während des Betriebs eine Größe bestimmt, die eine irreversible Alterung des Stapels, der Brennstoffzelle oder der Elektrolysezelle oder eines Teils davon charakterisiert oder eine Vorhersage für eine Wartung des Stapels, der Brennstoffzelle oder der Elektrolysezelle oder eines Teils davon umfasst. Die Simulation ermöglicht es, diese Information über den Zustand zu bestimmen.
Vorzugsweise wird abhängig vom Zustand ein Designparameter für den Stapel, die Brennstoffzelle oder die Elektrolysezelle oder eines Teils davon bestimmt. Dies ermöglicht es, ein besseres Design schneller zu erzielen.
Vorzugsweise umfasst das erste Modell, das zweite Modell und/oder das dritte Modell Parameter, wobei Trainingsdaten bereitgestellt werden, die jeweils wenigstens eine Eingangsgröße für das erste Modell und eine Referenz für den Zustand umfassen, wobei mit den wenigstens einen Eingangsgrößen aus den Trainingsdaten die jeweiligen Zustände bestimmt werden und wobei abhängig von einer Abweichung der Zustände von ihrer jeweiligen Referenz aus den Trainingsdaten die Parameter bestimmt werden, für die die Abweichung möglichst klein ist, und wobei der Zustand anschließend abhängig von der vorgegebenen wenigstens einen Eingangsgröße des ersten Modells bestimmt wird.
Eine Vorrichtung, insbesondere ein virtueller Sensor, zum Bestimmen eines Zustands eines Stapels von Brennstoffzellen oder Elektrolysezellen oder in einer Brennstoffzelle oder Elektrolysezelle ist ausgebildet, den Zustands gemäß dem Verfahren zu bestimmen.
Weitere vorteilhafte Ausführungsformen sind der folgenden Beschreibung und der Zeichnung entnehmbar. In der Zeichnung zeigt: Fig. 1 eine schematische Darstellung von Modellen zum Bestimmen eines Zustands in einem Brennstoffzellenstapel,

Eine Polymer-Elektrolyt-Membran Brennstoffzelle wandelt Wasserstoff und Sauerstoff unter Abgabe von elektrischer und thermischer Energie in Wasser um. Eine Festoxid-Brennstoffzelle wandelt einen Brennstoff wie z.B. Methan unter Abgabe von elektrischer und thermischer Energie um.
Das Vorgehen wird in der folgenden Beschreibung für Stapel aus Polymer- Elektrolyt-Membran Brennstoffzellen beschrieben. Für andere Arten von Brennstoffzellen, Elektrolysezellen oder Redox-Flow-Zellen ist ein entsprechendes Vorgehen vorgesehen.
Wie oben angeführt, wird insbesondere für eine Festoxid-Elektrolysezelle oder eine Polymer-Elektrolyt-Membran Elektrolysezelle entsprechend verfahren.
Die Polymer-Elektrolyt-Membran Brennstoffzelle umfasst in einem bipolaren Aufbau eine Bipolarplatte. Die Bipolarplatte umfasst eine erste Elektrode und eine zweite Elektrode. Mehrere Bipolarplatten werden zwischen zwei Endplatten seriell zu einem Stapel angeordnet. Zwischen je zwei der Bipolarplatten ist im Stapel eine protonenleitende Polymermembran angeordnet. Der Stapel wird durch die Endplatten zusammengehalten. Die beiden äußeren Bipolarplatten des Stapels werden durch je eine der Endplatten elektrisch kontaktiert.
Die Polymer-Elektrolyt-Membran Brennstoffzelle umfasst in einem monopolaren Aufbau statt der Bipolarplatte eine Monopolarplatte. Die Monopolarplatte umfasst eine Elektrode. Mehrere Monopolarplatten werden zwischen zwei Endplatten seriell zu einem Stapel angeordnet. Je Brennstoffzelle ist im Beispiel eine protonenleitende Polymermembran angeordnet, die außerhalb ihrer aktiven Fläche von einer Isolatorschicht umgeben ist. Der Stapel wird durch die Endplatten zusammengehalten. Die beiden äußeren Monopolarplatten des Stapels werden durch je eine der Endplatten elektrisch kontaktiert. Zudem sind elektrische Kontakte für Monopolarplatten vorgesehen, die innerhalb des Stapels angeordnet sind.
Bipolarplatte und Monopolarplatte werden im Folgenden als Platte bezeichnet. Im Falle von Bipolarplatten ist eine Anzahl der Platten um Eins größer als eine Anzahl der Membran-Elektroden-Einheit. Im Falle von Monopolarplatten ist eine Anzahl der Platten doppelt so groß wie eine Anzahl der Membran-Elektroden- Einheiten.
In der Platte ist wenigstens ein Kanal für eine Zufuhr eines ersten Prozessmediums, insbesondere Prozessluft, vorgesehen. Unter einem Kanal kann hierbei ein Kanal im engeren Sinn und ein Kanal im weiteren Sinn als durchgängiger Strömungsweg verstanden werden, beispielsweise in Form eines Wegs durch ein offenporöses Material wie beispielsweise bei einer PEM- Elektrolysezelle.
In der Platte ist wenigstens ein Kanal für eine Zufuhr eines zweiten Prozessmediums, insbesondere Prozesswasserstoff, vorgesehen.

In Figur 1 sind beispielhafte Modelle für eine Bestimmung eines Zustands 100 im Stapel dargestellt. In Figur 1 ist ein erstes Modell 102 für eine Peripherie des Stapels, sowie ein zweites Modell 104 und ein drittes Modell 106 für wenigstens ein Segment im Stapel. Das Segment umfasst in einem Beispiel wenigstens einen Teil eines Anodenkanals, wenigstens einen Teil einer Membran- Elektroden-Einheit, wenigstens einen Teil eines Kathodenkanal und wenigstens einen Teil eines Kühlmittelkanals. Das bedeutet, das Segment umfasst zwei Platten und eine Membran-Elektroden-Einheit wenigstens teilweise. Das zweite Modell 104 modelliert im Beispiel den wenigstens einen Teil des Anodenkanals, den wenigstens einen Teil des Kathodenkanals und den wenigstens einen Teil des Kühlmittelkanals aus zwei Platten. Das dritte Modell 106 modelliert im Beispiel den wenigstens einen Teil der Membran-Elektroden-Einheit.
Das erste Modell 102 ist über wenigstens eine erste Koppelgröße 108 an das zweite Modell 104 angekoppelt. Das zweite Modell 104 ist über wenigstens eine zweite Koppelgröße 110 an das erste Modell 102 angekoppelt. Im Beispiel sind die zwei Platten im zweiten Modell 104 als eine Platte zusammengefasst, wobei für beide Platten nur eine Koppelgröße je Richtung, d.h. die erste Koppelgröße 108 und die zweite Koppelgröße, vorgesehen sind. Es kann vorgesehen sein, dass im zweiten Modell 104 je Platte zwei Segmente modelliert werden und diese jeweils über eine eigene Koppelgröße in jede Richtung gekoppelt sind.
Das zweite Modell 104 ist über wenigstens eine dritte Koppelgröße 112 an das dritte Modell 106 angekoppelt. Das dritte Modell 106 ist über wenigstens eine vierte Koppelgröße 114 an das zweite Modell 104 angekoppelt. Im Beispiel ist ein virtueller Sensor 116 vorgesehen, der den Zustand 100 erfasst. Im Beispiel ist der virtuelle Sensor 116 über wenigstens eine fünfte Koppelgröße 118 an das dritte Modell 106 angekoppelt. Das erste Modell 102 weist einen Eingang 120 für wenigstens eine Eingangsgröße des ersten Modells 102 auf. Das erste Modell 102 weist einen Ausgang 122 zur Ausgabe wenigstens einer Ausgangsgröße des ersten Modells 102 auf.
Das zweite Modell 104 ist ausgebildet, physikalische Vorgänge, insbesondere Transportprozesse, in der Platte zu modellieren. Das zweite Modell 104 modelliert im Beispiel diskrete Segmente in der Platte. Die Transportprozesse finden einerseits in einer Ebene der Platte zwischen den Segmenten und andererseits in einer Ebene senkrecht zur Platte zwischen je einem Segment oder einem Bündel von Segmenten von und zu einer Membran-Elektroden- Einheit statt. Die Transportprozesse in der Platte werden im Beispiel in diesen Ebenen mit dem zweiten Modell 104 modelliert. Die Transportprozesse in der Membran-Elektroden-Einheit werden mit dem dritten Modell 106 modelliert.
Das zweite Modell 104 ist z.B. ausgebildet, einen Wärmetransport, einen Kühlmitteltransport, einen Gastransport und ein elektrisches Potential in je einem Segment oder einem Bündel solcher Segmente zu modellieren. Dabei werden insbesondere Medienversorgung, Versorgung mit Prozessmedien, insbesondere Reaktionsgase, Abtransport von Prozessprodukten, insbesondere von Flüssigwasser vor allem bei einer PEM-Brennstoffzelle und/oder Wärme, und elektrische Spannung durch verallgemeinerte Widerstände abgebildet. Diese Widerstände werden zu Widerstandsnetzwerken verbunden. Die Widerstände können linear oder nichtlinear sein. Des Weiteren können die zu Grunde liegenden Widerstände aus physikalischen Modellen vorgegeben sein. Die physikalischen Modelle sind beispielsweise diskretisiert z.B. durch finite Volumen. Die physikalischen Modelle sind beispielsweise vorab erzeugte Tabellen oder datenbasierte Modelle.
Ein Segment ist ein Diskretisierungspunkt und umfasst z.B. einen Kanal einer bestimmten Kanallänge. Das Segment kann auch mehrere Kanäle umfassen.
Die physikalischen Prozesse innerhalb eines Segments werden z.B. über ein repräsentatives Element abgebildet, beispielsweise ein Einzelkanal oder ein repräsentatives Kanalbündel.
In einem Segment können beispielsweise folgende Größen bestimmt werden: eine Gaskonzentration, ein Partialdruck, eine elektrische Spannung, eine Plattentemperatur, eine Gastemperatur, eine Flüssigwassersättigung, eine Kühlmitteltemperatur, ein Kühlmitteldruck. Diese Größen sind beispielhaft. Es könne auch andere Größen bestimmt werden.
Für das zweite Modell 104 können mathematische Beschreibungen der Zusammenhänge verwendet werden, z.B. für den Gastransport eine Beschreibung von zwei-Phasen Strömung gemäß Darcy oder Poisseuille, für elektrische Spannung eine Beschreibung gemäß des Ohmschen Gesetzes, für die Plattentemperatur eine Beschreibung gemäß Wärmeleitungsgleichung, für das Kühlmittel eine Beschreibung als inkompressible Strömung.
Das dritte Modell 106 umfasst im Beispiel in der Ebene senkrecht zu der Platte je Segment ein Membran-Elektroden-Einheits-Modell. Dieses Membran-Elektroden- Einheits-Modell kann in unterschiedlicher Komplexitäten ausgeführt sein. Das dritte Modell 106 ist z.B. ein eindimensionales Modell zur approximativen Bestimmung von inhomogenen Stromverteilungen im Stapel und zur Bestimmung eines entsprechenden Gasumsatzes.
Das dritte Modell 106 ist z.B. ein zweidimensionales Modell zur Bestimmung interner Zustände der Membran-Elektroden-Einheit.
Das dritte Modell 106 ist z.B. ein dreidimensionales Modell zur Evaluierung von Prozessen in einer Mikrostruktur einer Membran-Elektroden-Einheit. Die Prozesse sind z.B. Strömungseffekte entlang einer Kanalströmungsrichtung.
In einem Beispiel modelliert das Membran-Elektroden-Einheits-Modell, eine Membran-Elektroden-Einheits-Physik detailliert, wobei verschiedene interne Zustände wie Membranfeuchte oder Sättigungen automatisch mitberechnet werden. Die wenigstens eine fünfte Koppelgröße 118 umfasst beispielsweise wenigstens einen dieser internen Zustände. Dadurch ist z.B. eine Alterung in einem Segment das dieser Membran-Elektroden-Einheit zugeordnet ist, bestimmbar. Durch die Abstraktion in Segmente kann das Membran-Elektroden- Einheits-Modell eindimensional zweidimensional oder dreidimensional ausgeführt sein.
Das dritte Modell 106 modelliert die Membran-Elektroden-Einheits-Physik im Falle einer PEMFC z.B. gemäß L. M. Pant et al., Electrochimica Acta, 326, 134963 (2019) oder R. Vetter and J. O. Schumacher, Journal of Power Sources, 438, 227018 (2019) oder A. A. Kulikovsky, Journal of The Electrochemical Society, 161 , F263-F270 (2014).
Die wenigstens eine dritte Koppelgröße 112 ist z.B. eine Gasspezieskonzentration, eine Bipolarplattentemperatur, ein elektrisches Potential. Die wenigstens eine vierte Koppelgröße 114 ist zum Beispiel ein Stoffstrom, ein Wärmestrom, ein elektrischer Strom. Die dritte Koppelgröße 112 und/oder die vierte Koppelgröße 114 koppeln die Segmente oder Bündel von Segmenten an die Membran-Elektroden-Einheits-Modelle.
Für eine PEM Brennstoffzelle ist eine Umsetzung des dritten Modells 106 anhand von partiellen Differenzialgleichen, in denen die dritte Koppelgröße 112 und die vierte Koppelgröße 114 jeweils für eine Anode und eine Kathode ausgeführt sind, in Experimental parameter uncertainty in PEM fuel cell modeling Part I: Scatter in material parameterization, R. In Gleichung (1) wird das Ohmsche Gesetz gelöst, wobei das elektrische Potential die dritte Koppelgröße 112 und der elektrische Strom die vierte Koppelgröße 114 darstellt.
In Gleichung (5) wird eine Wärmegleichung gelöst, wobei die Temperatur die dritte Koppelgröße 112 und der Wärmestrom die vierte Koppelgröße 114 darstellt.
In Gleichung (13) wird der Gastransport über die Maxwell-Stefan Gleichung berechnet, wobei die Gaskonzentration die dritte Koppelgröße 112 und der Stoffstrom die vierte Koppelgröße 114 darstellt.
Darüber hinaus wird in dieser Formulierung eine Protonleitung in einem Ionomer mit Gleichung (1), ein Wasserübertrag im Ionomer mit Gleichung (9), eine Adsorption / Desporption mit Gleichung (22), eine Evaporation / Kondensation mit Gleichung (23), eine Reaktionskinetik mit Gleichung (1) und Kontaktwiderstände mit Gleichung (S24) berechnet.
Das erste Modell 102 umfasst z.B. einen Sammelknoten für ein Widerstandsnetzwerk. Das erste Modell 102 ist z.B. ausgebildet, eine Inhomogenität zwischen Zellen des Stapels abzubilden. In diesem Beispiel sind Manifold, d.h. Zulauf für Prozessmedien und Ablauf für ein Prozessprodukt und Endplatten des Stapels zusammengefasst. Es kann vorgesehen sein, dass für Zulauf und Ablauf ein Modell und für die Endplatten ein separates Modell verwendet wird. Es kann vorgesehen sein, dass für Zulauf, Ablauf und Endplatten separate Modelle verwendet werden. Das erste Modell 102 ist z.B. ausgebildet, ein thermisches und elektrisches Verhalten des gesamten Stapels zu berücksichtigen. Das erste Modell 102 ist z.B. ausgebildet, eine Inhomogenität von Fluiden über die Kanäle zu modellieren.
Im Beispiel ist Segmenten am Rand der Platte zusätzlich zu einem Membran- Elektroden-Einheits-Modell das erste Modell 102 zugeordnet. Entsprechende erste und zweite Koppelgrößen modellieren eine Medienversorgung, Gasspeziesfluss, eine Gastemperatur. Die Medienversorgung wird z.B. durch Massenströme aus der Peripherie in das Segment oder aus dem Segment in die Peripherie, einen Betriebsdruck, einen Auslassdruck und/oder eine Kühlmitteltemperatur modelliert. Dies erfolgt z.B. mittels einer numerischen Berechnung einer Strömungsmechanik und einer anschließenden Extraktion verallgemeinerter Widerstände.
Im Beispiel umfasst das erste Modell 102 wenigstens ein Endplattenmodell, das Segmenten an denen die Endplatten angeordnet sind, zugeordnet ist. Entsprechende erste und zweite Koppelgrößen modellieren eine Übersetzung von elektrischen Anforderungen in elektrische Ströme in die jeweiligen Segmente.
Um mit Hilfe dieser Diskretisierung den ganzen Stapel zu rechnen, können mehrere einzelne Zellen des Stapels zu repräsentativen Zellbündeln zusammengefasst werden. Das Zellbündel hat veränderte Eigenschaften im Vergleich zur einzelnen Zelle. Beispielsweise bewirkt ein Widerstand in der Ebene einen Ausgleichstrom, der abgebildet wird. Zusätzlich hat die Zusammenfassung Auswirkungen auf das erste Modell 102. Das erste Modell 102 ist in diesem Fall dazu mit entsprechenden Koppelgrößen für Zellbündeln ausgebildet. So entsteht ein Widerstandsnetzwerk für den ganzen Stapel, das über den ganzen Stapel lokal Aussagen über interne Zustände der Membran- Elektroden-Einheit und die Platten liefert. Eine zulässige Zellzahl in einem Zellbündel ist dabei nicht beschränkt. Die Zellzahl wird z.B. gemäß den Genauigkeitsanforderungen der Anwendungsfragestellung festgelegt.
Die Wahl der Zellbündel- und Segmentanzahl ist eine Abwägung aus Genauigkeit und Rechenzeit. Die Segmente können rechteckig, insbesondere quadratisch sein. Eine andere geometrische Form ist auch möglich. Im Beispiel ist eine geometrische Anforderung an die Segmente, dass sie eine vollständige Unterteilung der Platte ermöglicht. Die Segmente fassen in einem Beispiel mehrere Kanäle zu einem Kanalbündel zusammen. Die Anzahl der zusammengefassten Kanäle kann vom einem bis zu allen Kanälen der Platten umfassen. Insbesondere die Wahl von nur einem Kanalbündel ist ausreichend, wenn die erwartbaren Leistungsunterschiede quer zu einer Strömungsrichtung in den Kanälen gering oder für die zu untersuchende Fragestellung von geringer Relevanz sind. Andernfalls kann es nötig sein, mehrere Kanalbündel zu betrachten. Ein Kanalbündel umfasst z.B. 10 oder mehr Kanäle.
Die Zellen am Rand des Stapels werden vorzugsweise in gegenüber anderen Zellbündeln, die Zellen mitten aus dem Stapels umfassen, kleineren Zellbündeln integriert, da sich dort häufig insbesondere die Temperaturprofile von denen in den Zellen mitten aus dem Stapel unterscheiden.
Eine weitere Diskretisierung wird beispielsweise abhängig von Anwendungsfällen gewählt:
Für einfache Fragestellungen wie Polarisationskurven oder Betriebsstrategien mit nicht-alterungsrelevanten Zuständen ist eine Wahl von z.B. 5-20 Segmenten entlang der Strömungskanäle, sowie z.B. 1-10 Zellbündel ausreichend.
Für alterungsrelevante Fragestellungen, in denen lokale interne Zustände einer Membran-Elektroden-Einheit sehr genau abgebildet werden müssen, ist auch eine Segmentanzahl von z.B. 100 und mehr Segmenten entlang der Strömungsrichtung der Kanäle vorteilhaft.
Das erste Modell 102, das zweite Modell 104 und das dritte Modell 106 umfassen Parameter. Die Modelle umfassen insbesondere miteinander gekoppelte partielle Differentialgleichungen oder sind als analytische Funktionen oder als ein neuronales Netzwerk oder mehrere neuronale Netzwerke bestimmt. Die Parameter definieren die Modelle, d.h. die Differentialgleichungen bzw. die analytischen Funktionen oder neuronalen Netzwerke. Die Differentialgleichungen, analytischen Funktionen und die neuronalen Netzwerke modellieren elektrochemische oder physikalische Effekte im Stapel. Die Differentialgleichungen und analytischen Funktionen umfassen elektrochemische oder physikalische Größen. Die Differentialgleichungen und analytischen Funktionen können auch Zustandsgrößen umfassen, für die es weder eine elektrochemische noch eine physikalische Entsprechung im Stapel gibt. Die neuronalen Netzwerke umfassen Eingänge für elektrochemische oder physikalische Größen und Ausgänge für elektrochemische oder physikalische Größen. Die Differentialgleichungen, bzw. die analytischen Funktionen bzw. die neuronalen Netzwerke sind über die Koppelgrößen gekoppelt.
Je nach Zustand 100 der modelliert werden soll, können die Differentialgleichungen und die neuronalen Netzwerke verschiedene Größen, Koppelgrößen und/oder Parameter umfassen. Beispiele für die Größen und die Koppelgrößen werden im Folgenden beschrieben. In einem Beispiel werden die Modelle, d.h. die Differentialgleichungen, die analytischen Funktionen bzw. die Neuronalen Netzwerke vollgekoppelt gelöst, um den Zustand 100 zu bestimmen. In einem Beispiel kann eine explizite Kopplung oder können mehrere explizite Kopplungen vorgesehen sein.
Das erste Modell 102 weist optional eine Schnittstelle 124 zur Bedatung des ersten Modells 102 auf. Das zweite Modell 104 weist optional eine Schnittstelle 126 zur Bedatung des zweiten Modells 104 auf. Das dritte Modell 106 weist optional eine Schnittstelle 128 zur Bedatung des dritten Modells 106 auf.
Mit diesen Schnittstellen sind zur Bedatung die Parameter der jeweiligen Modelle veränderbar.
Zur Bedatung kann ein Training vorgesehen sein. Im Training werden Trainingsdaten bereitgestellt, die jeweils wenigstens eine Eingangsgröße für das erste Modell 102 und eine Referenz für den Zustand 100 umfassen. Die Referenz gibt an, welcher Zustand 100 mit den Modellen und den jeweiligen Eingangsgrößen modelliert werden soll.
Mit den wenigstens einen Eingangsgrößen aus den Trainingsdaten werden die jeweiligen Zustände 100 bestimmt.
Die Parameter werden beispielsweise abhängig von einer Abweichung der Zustände 100 von ihrer jeweiligen Referenz aus den Trainingsdaten bestimmt.
Beispielsweise werden durch ein Optimierungsverfahren, das die Abweichung minimiert, die Parameter bestimmt, für die die Abweichung möglichst klein ist. Die Abweichung ist möglichst klein, wenn z.B. ein Mittelwert der Abweichungen für die Trainingsdaten minimal ist. In einer Inferenz wird der Zustand 100 anschließend abhängig von den im Training bestimmten Parametern und einer vorgegebenen wenigstens einen Eingangsgröße des ersten Modells 102 bestimmt.
In Figur 2 sind schematisch Membran-Elektroden-Einheiten 202 dargestellt, die in einem Brennstoffzellenstapel 204 angeordnet sind. Der Stapel 204 weist zwei Enden 206 auf, zwischen denen Platten 208 angeordnet sind. Der Stapel 204 ist an seinen Enden 206 durch je eine Endplatte 210 elektrisch kontaktiert. Diese sind an gegenüberliegenden Stirnseiten des Stapels 204 angeordnet. Eine erste der Platten 208 des Stapels 204 ist mit einer ersten der Endplatten 210 elektrisch verbunden und eine letzte der Platten 208 des Stapels 204 ist mit einer zweiten der Endplatten 210 elektrisch verbunden.
Mit dem zweiten Modell 104 werden Segmente 208-1 der Platte 208 modelliert. Die Platten 208 umfassen Kanäle 208-2. Jedes Segment 208-1 umfasst einen Teil je eines der Kanäle 208-2 oder Teile von jeweils mehreren Kanälen 208-2.
Seitlich am Stapel 204 ist ein Zulauf 212 angeordnet, durch den Kanäle 208-2 des Stapels 204 mit Prozessmedien versorgt werden. Ein Prozessprodukt wird über einen Ablauf 214 aus Kanälen 208-2 des Stapels 204 ausgeleitet. Der Ablauf 214 ist auf einer dem Zulauf 212 gegenüberliegenden Seite seitlich am Stapel 204 angeordnet.
Mit dem ersten Modell 102 werden abhängig von wenigstens einer Eingangsgröße des ersten Modells 102 Zu- oder Abläufe in den Stapel 204 modelliert.
Mit dem ersten Modell 102 werden abhängig von wenigstens einer Eingangsgröße des ersten Modells 102 elektrische Ein- und Ausgangsgrößen des Stapels 204 modelliert.
Die Segmente 208-1 der Platten 208 des Stapels 204 werden im zweiten Modell 104 modelliert. Mit dem zweiten Modell 104 werden physikalische Effekte in den Segmenten 208-1 modelliert.
Mit dem dritten Modell 106 werden physikalische Effekte in Membran-Elektroden- Elementen 202 oder in Segmenten 202-1 der Membran-Elektroden-Elemente 202 modelliert. Die Segmente 202-1 eines Membran-Elektroden-Elements 202 sind z.B. je einem Segment 208-1 der beiden dem Membran-Elektroden-Element 202 benachbarten Platte 208 zugeordnet, wobei einander benachbart angeordnete Segmente 202-1 einander zugeordnet sein können.
Diese Segmente können untereinander entkoppelt oder gekoppelt sein. Eine Anzahl der Segmente im zweiten Modell 104 ist im Beispiel gleich einer Anzahl der Segmente im dritten Modell 106. Dies stellt eine konforme Diskretisierung dar. Eine Anbindung der Segmente im zweiten Modell 104 an die Segmente im dritten Modell 106 erfolgt z.B. über die dritte Koppelgröße 112. Eine Anbindung der Segmente im dritten Modell 104 an die Segmente im zweiten Modell 106 erfolgt z.B. über die vierte Koppelgröße 114. Die Anzahl der Segmente im zweiten Modell 104 kann von der Anzahl der Segmente im dritten Modell 106 abweichen. Dies stellt eine nicht konforme Diskretisierung dar. Eine Anbindung der Segmente im zweiten Modell 104 an die Segmente im dritten Modell 106 erfolgt z.B. über eine entsprechend angepasste dritte Koppelgröße 112. Eine Anbindung der Segmente im dritten Modell 106 an die Segmente im zweiten Modell 104 erfolgt z.B. über eine entsprechend angepasste vierte Koppelgröße 114.
Das dritte Modell 106 umfasst im Beispiel je Segment 202-1 ein eindimensionales, ein zweidimensionales oder ein dreidimensionales Modell, mit dem Randbedingungen aus dem diesem Segment 202-1 zugeordneten Segment 208-1 der Platte 208 modelliert werden. Dadurch wird eine signifikante Rechenzeitersparnis erreicht.
In Figur 3 sind Schritte in einem Verfahren zum Bestimmen des Zustands 100 im Stapel 204 beschrieben. Das im Folgenden anhand der Polymer-Elektrolyt- Membran Brennstoffzelle erläuterte Verfahren kann analog für beliebige Brennstoffzellen, Elektrolyse und Redox-Flow-Technologien angewendet werden. In einem Schritt 302 wird wenigstens eine Eingangsgröße des ersten Modells 102 z.B. aus einer vorgegebenen Messung an einer Membran-Elektroden- Einheit, die in der Polymer-Elektrolyt-Membran Brennstoffzelle verbaut ist, bestimmt. Die Messung wird in einem Beispiel während des Betriebs der Polymer-Elektrolyt-Membran Brennstoffzelle erfasst. Die Messung charakterisiert im Beispiel den Betrieb der Polymer-Elektrolyt-Membran Brennstoffzelle, d.h. die Messung umfasst wenigstens eine messbare Größe, die den Betrieb charakterisiert.
In einem Schritt 304 wird der Zustand 100 mit der wenigstens einen Eingangsgröße, dem ersten Modell 102, dem zweiten Modell 104 und dem dritten Modell 106 bestimmt. Der Zustand 100 wird beispielsweise mit dem virtuellen Sensor 116 erfasst.
Der virtuelle Sensor 116 erfasst im Beispiel die wenigstens eine fünfte Koppelgröße 118. Im Beispiel wird das erste Modell 102, das zweite Modell 104 und das dritte Modell 106 für die wenigstens eine Eingangsgröße des ersten Modells 102 vollständig gekoppelt gelöst. Dabei sind die Modelle über die jeweiligen Koppelgrößen gekoppelt.
Anschließend wird ein Schritt 306 ausgeführt.
Im Schritt 306 wird in einem Beispiel die wenigstens eine Ausgangsgröße des ersten Modells 102 ausgegeben. Die Ausgangsgröße ist beispielsweise eine berechnete Größe für eine Größe, die in der Messung enthalten ist. Es kann vorgesehen sein, dass diese Größen miteinander abgeglichen werden.
Im Schritt 306 wird in einem Beispiel abhängig vom Zustand 100 eine Größe für den Betrieb des Stapels 204, insbesondere eine Betriebsstrategie, eine Ansteuergröße oder eine Regelgröße, bestimmt und der Stapel 204 abhängig von der Größe angesteuert. Die Größe wird beispielsweise während des Betriebs des Stapels 204 abhängig von einer Messung am Stapel 204, die im Betrieb des Stapels 204 erfasst wird, bestimmt. Der Stapel 204 wird beispielsweise während seines Betriebs mit der Größe angesteuert. In Schritt 306 wird in einem Beispiel abhängig vom Zustand 100 des Stapels 204 eine Größe bestimmt, die eine irreversible Alterung des Stapels 204 oder eines seiner Teile charakterisiert. Der Zustand 100 und/oder die Größe wird z.B. während des Betriebs bestimmt.
In Schritt 306 wird in einem Beispiel abhängig vom Zustand 100 des Stapels 204 eine Größe bestimmt, die eine Vorhersage für eine Wartung des Stapels 204 oder eines seiner Teile umfasst. Der Zustand 100 und/oder die Größe wird z.B. während des Betriebs bestimmt.
Im Schritt 306 wird in einem Beispiel abhängig vom Zustand 100 des Stapels 204 ein Designparameter für den Stapel 204 oder eines seiner Teile bestimmt. Die Schritte 302 bis 306 werden beispielsweise in einem Designprozess vielfach wiederholt, wobei eine Mehrzahl von Designparametern bestimmt werden. Durch unterschiedliche Parameter des zweiten Modells 104 und/oder des dritten Modells 106 werden beispielsweise verschiedene Designs simuliert.
Der Zustand 100 wird beispielsweise abhängig von der wenigstens einen Eingangsgröße für das erste Modell 102 bestimmt.
Im Folgenden werden beispielhafte Anwendungen für beispielhafte Zustände angeben. Im Beispiel wird bezüglich des Stapels 204 zwischen einem Brennstoffzellenstapel der Polymer-Elektrolyt-Membran Brennstoffzelle und einem Elektrolysestapel der Polymer-Elektrolyt-Membran Elektrolysezelle unterschieden. Der Brennstoffzellenstapel umfasst Brennstoffzellen. Der Elektrolysestapel umfasst Elektrolysezellen.
Für eine Redox-Flow Batterie, eine Festoxid-Brennstoffzelle oder eine Festoxid- Elektrolysezelle wird entsprechend verfahren.
Die Zustände betreffen beispielsweise den Brennstoffzellenstapel, Brennstoffzellen darin oder Teile davon. Außer den bereits beschriebenen Teilen des Brennstoffzellenstapels umfasst der Brennstoffzellenstapel z.B. wenigstens eine Gasdiffusionsschicht, wenigstens eine mikroporöse Schicht, wenigstens eine Katalysatorschicht, wenigstens einen Einlass für das erste Prozessmedium, wenigstens einen Einlass für das zweite Prozessmedium, wenigstens eine Membran und/oder wenigstens ein Gasdiffusionsmedium.
Beispielsweise ist der Zustand 100 ein interner Zustand des Brennstoffzellenstapels.

Das erste Modell 102 umfasst optional ein thermisches Modell, das eine Umgebungsbedingung des Brennstoffzellenstapels modelliert, z.B. eine Temperatur und/oder eine relative Feuchte der Umgebungsluft des Brennstoffzellenstapels.
Beispielsweise ist der Zustand 100 eine Inhomogenität eines internen Zustands einer Brennstoffzelle im Brennstoffzellenstapel.
Beispielsweise ist der Zustand 100 eine Inhomogenität eines internen Zustands wenigstens eines Kanals für Gas, wenigstens eines Kanals für Kühlmittel oder einer Struktur der Platte im Brennstoffzellenstapel.

Der Zustand 100 ist beispielsweise ein Zustand, der bei einem Start oder einem Stopp des Brennstoffzellenstapels entsteht.
Der Zustand 100 ist beispielsweise ein Zustand, der bei einem Gefrierstart wichtig ist. In einem Beispiel wird insbesondere abhängig von einer Temperatur der Gefrierstart erkannt und der Zustand 100 beim Gefrierstart erfasst.
Der Zustand 100 ist beispielsweise ein lokaler Zustand im Brennstoffzellenstapel. In einem Beispiel wird abhängig vom Zustand 100 eine Auswirkung von Produktionsschwankungen auf den lokalen Zustand bestimmt. In einem Beispiel ist der Zustand 100 eine lokale Temperaturverteilung oder eine lokale Gaszusammensetzung innerhalb einer Brennstoffzelle und/oder des Brennstoffzellenstapels.

Beispielsweise werden für die Membran- Elektroden-Einheit verschiedene Zustände 100, d.h. verschiedene lokale irreversible Alterungen, erfasst und abhängig von den erfassten Zuständen die eine irreversible Alterung der Membran-Elektroden-Einheit bestimmt.
In einem Beispiel wird der Zustand 100 erfasst und eine insbesondere optimale Betriebsstrategie abhängig vom Zustand 100 bestimmt. Beispielsweise wird die Betriebsstrategie unter Berücksichtigung einer Effizienz und/oder einer Lebenszeit des Brennstoffzellenstapels bestimmt.

Beispielsweise wird die Messung im Betrieb des Elektrolysezellenstapels erfasst, der Zustand 100 während des Betriebs des Elektrolysezellenstapels abhängig von der Messung bestimmt, die Ansteuergröße oder die Regelgröße abhängig vom Zustand 100 während des Betriebs des Elektrolysezellenstapels bestimmt, und der Elektrolysezellenstapel abhängig von der Ansteuergröße oder die Regelgröße angesteuert.
In einem Beispiel wird abhängig vom Zustand 100 eine Vorhersage für eine Wartung des Elektrolysezellenstapels bestimmt.
In einem Beispiel wird abhängig vom Zustand 100 eine Vorhersage für eine adaptive Änderung wenigstens einer Betriebsbedingung bestimmt, mit der eine Lebenszeit und/oder Leistungsfähigkeit während eines Betriebs des Elektrolysezellenstapels beeinflussbar ist.
In einem Beispiel wird abhängig vom Zustand 100 mit einem Systemmodell, das ein System modelliert, in dem der Elektrolysezellenstapel betrieben wird, wenigstens eine Eingangsgröße für den Elektrolysezellenstapel geschätzt, z.B. eine Leitfähigkeit des Wassers oder ein zirkulierendes Restgas. Die Leitfähigkeit des Wassers ändert sich z.B. durch Kontamination im Betrieb.

Claims

Ansprüche
1. Verfahren zum Bestimmen eines Zustands (100) in einem Stapel (204) von Brennstoffzellen oder Elektrolysezellen oder in einer Brennstoffzelle oder einer Elektrolysezelle, wobei mindestens eine Membran-Elektroden-Einheit (202) und Platten (208) vorgesehen sind, zwischen denen je eine Membran- Elektroden-Einheit (202) angeordnet ist, wobei mit einem ersten Modell (102) Zuläufe von Prozessmedien aus einer Peripherie und Abläufe eines Prozessprodukts in die Peripherie und elektrische Ein- und Ausgangsgrößen modelliert werden, wobei mit einem zweiten Modell (104) Segmente (208-1) der Platten (208) modelliert werden, wobei mit einem dritten Modell (106) die Membran-Elektroden-Einheit (202) oder Segmente (202-1) der Membran- Elektroden-Einheit (202) modelliert werden, wobei das erste Modell (102) und das zweite Modell (104) über wenigstens eine Koppelgröße (108, 110) gekoppelt sind, wobei das zweite Modell (104) und das dritte Modell (106) segmentweise über wenigstens eine Koppelgröße (112, 114) gekoppelt sind, wobei wenigstens eine Eingangsgröße des ersten Modells (102) vorgegeben wird (302), wobei der Zustand (100) mit der wenigstens einen Eingangsgröße, dem ersten Modell (102), dem zweiten Modell (104) und dem dritten Modell (106) bestimmt wird (304).
2. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1 , dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass mit dem zweiten Modell (104) ein physikalischer Effekt je Segment (208-1) oder für ein Bündel von mehreren Segmenten (208-1) modelliert wird.
3. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1 oder zwei, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass mit dem dritten Modell (106) ein physikalischer Effekt der Membran-Elektroden- Einheit (202) oder je Segment (202-1) der Membran-Elektroden-Einheit (202) modelliert wird.

Verfahren nach einem der vorherigen Ansprüche , dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass während eines Betriebs des Stapels (204), der Brennstoffzelle oder der Elektrolysezelle eine Messung erfasst wird (302), die den Betrieb charakterisiert, wobei der Zustand (100) während des Betriebs abhängig von der Messung bestimmt wird (304).

Verfahren nach Anspruch 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass während des Betriebs eine Größe für den Betrieb, insbesondere eine Betriebsstrategie, eine Ansteuergröße oder eine Regelgröße, abhängig vom Zustand (100) während seines Betriebs bestimmt wird, und der Stapel (204), die Brennstoffzelle oder die Elektrolysezelle abhängig von der Größe angesteuert wird (306).

Verfahren nach Anspruch 4 oder 5, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass abhängig vom Zustand (100) insbesondere während des Betriebs eine Größe bestimmt wird (306), die eine irreversible Alterung des Stapels (204), der Brennstoffzelle oder der Elektrolysezelle oder eines Teils davon charakterisiert oder eine Vorhersage für eine Wartung des Stapels (204), der Brennstoffzelle oder der Elektrolysezelle oder eines Teils davon umfasst.
7. Verfahren nach einem der vorherigen Ansprüche, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass abhängig vom Zustand (100) ein Designparameter für den Stapel (204), die Brennstoffzelle oder die Elektrolysezelle oder eines Teils davon bestimmt wird (306).

Verfahren nach einem der vorherigen Ansprüche, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das erste Modell (102), das zweite Modell (104) und/oder das dritte Modell (106) Parameter umfassen, wobei Trainingsdaten bereitgestellt werden, die jeweils wenigstens eine Eingangsgröße für das erste Modell (102) und eine Referenz für den Zustand (100) umfassen, wobei mit den wenigstens einen Eingangsgrößen aus den Trainingsdaten die jeweiligen Zustände (100) bestimmt werden und wobei abhängig von einer Abweichung der Zustände (100) von ihrer jeweiligen Referenz aus den Trainingsdaten die Parameter bestimmt werden, für die die Abweichung möglichst klein ist, und wobei der Zustand (100) anschließend abhängig von der vorgegebenen wenigstens einen Eingangsgröße des ersten Modells (102) bestimmt wird.

Vorrichtung, insbesondere virtueller Sensor, zum Bestimmen eines Zustands (100) eines Stapels von Brennstoffzellen oder Elektrolysezellen oder in einer Brennstoffzelle oder Elektrolysezelle (202), dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Vorrichtung ausgebildet ist, den Zustands (100) gemäß dem Verfahren nach einem der vorherigen Ansprüche zu bestimmen.
10. Computerprogramm, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das
Computerprogramm computerlesbare Instruktionen umfasst, bei deren Ausführung durch einen Computer ein Verfahren nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 8 abläuft.
