Definitions
- the application relates to a device and a method for driving a fastener into a substrate.
- Driving springs which work on the principle of a gas spring.
- the energy transmission element In order to tension such drive-in springs, the energy transmission element is pushed into a container of the gas spring.
- the energy transmission element In order to be driven, the energy transmission element may require a special geometry, which can impair the mechanical robustness of the energy transmission element.
- a device for driving a fastener into a substrate having a bolt receptacle for the fastener and a driving element that can be moved between an initial position and a setting position onto the bolt receptacle, the device having a cylindrical container that defines a cylinder axis, and wherein the driving element comprises a piston which is arranged in the cylindrical container movably along the cylinder axis, so that the piston closes off a partial volume of the cylindrical container and a gas arranged in the closed partial volume of the cylindrical container forms a gas spring.
- the cylindrical container can be moved along the cylinder axis toward the bolt receptacle when the driving-in element is in the starting position.
- An advantageous embodiment is characterized by a drive which drives the cylindrical container for tensioning the gas spring along the cylinder axis from a relaxed position into a clamped position towards the bolt receptacle.
- the drive also drives the cylindrical container from the clamped position into the unclamped position.
- the cylindrical container particularly preferably comprises a driver which takes the driving element from the setting position into the starting position.

- the conveying device 70 comprises a gas spring 200, shown schematically, and a drive 300 for tensioning the gas spring 200, for example by means of a spindle drive.
- the drive 300 includes an electric motor 800 for converting electrical energy from the battery 590 into rotational energy.
- a device 100 for driving a fastener into a substrate is shown schematically in successive operating phases.
- the device 100 has a bolt receptacle 110 for fastening elements, not shown, which are formed, for example, as nails, bolts, pins or rivets.
- the device 100 has a driving-in element 120 which can be moved between an initial position (FIGS. 4 and 5) and a setting position (FIGS. 3 and 6) onto the bolt receptacle 110 .
- the driving-in element 120 has a peripheral and peripheral depression 121 on its circumference in the vicinity of its end facing the bolt receptacle 110 .
- the device 100 has a cylindrical container 130 which defines a cylinder axis 135 .
- the cylindrical container 130 has projections 131 which are arranged one behind the other in the direction of the cylinder axis 135 in the manner of a toothed rack on an outside of the cylindrical container 130 .
- the driving-in element 120 comprises a piston (not shown) which is arranged in the cylindrical container 130 so as to be movable along the cylinder axis 135 .
- the piston thus closes off an upper partial volume of the cylindrical container 130 in FIGS. 3 to 6, in which a gas spring made of a gas, for example air, is formed.
- the cylindrical container 130 has a double-walled construction. In exemplary embodiments that are not shown, the cylindrical container has a single-walled structure.
- the device 100 has a drive 140 with a motor 142 and a gear wheel 145, the gear wheel 145 being mounted on a motor shaft 143 of the motor 142 in a rotationally fixed manner.
- the gear 145 engages with its teeth between the projections 131 of the cylindrical container 130, so that a rotational movement of the motor shaft 143 is translated into a linear movement of the cylindrical container 130 along the cylinder axis 135 towards the bolt receptacle 110 and/or away from the bolt receptacle 110 .
- Guide elements 132 serve to guide the cylindrical container 130 during such a linear movement along the cylinder axis 135 between a clamped position (FIGS. 3, 5 and 6) and a relaxed position (FIG. 4).
- the drive 140 is supplied with electrical energy from an electrical energy store, not shown, such as a rechargeable battery or a battery. Furthermore, the device 100 has a coupling device 150 for temporarily holding the driving-in element 120 in the starting position.
- a method for driving a fastener into a substrate with the device 100 comprises the following steps. Initially (FIG. 3), for example after the device 100 has been switched on or after a driving-in process has taken place, the driving-in element 120 is in the setting position and the cylindrical container 130 is in the clamped position. Because the driver 120 is in the set position, the gas spring within the cylindrical canister 130 is in a relaxed state.
- a first step (FIG. 4), the motor 142 drives the motor shaft 143 and thus the gear wheel 145 counterclockwise.
- the cylindrical container 130 is conveyed to the unclamping position.
- the driving-in element 120 is conveyed into the initial position by means of a driver (not shown).
- the clutch device 150 engages the recess 121 on the driver 120 to temporarily hold the driver 120 in the home position.
- the motor 142 drives the motor shaft 143 and thus the gear wheel 145 in a clockwise direction.
- the gear 145 being engaged between the projections 131, the cylindrical container 130 is conveyed to the clamping position, while the driving element 120 is held by the clutch device 150 in the initial position.
- the gas spring located in the closed partial volume above the piston of the drive-in element 120 is compressed and tensioned. Due to the fact that the driving element 120 does not move during the tensioning process, it is possible to decompress the gas spring by the reverse movement of the cylindrical container without moving the driving element 120 . It is thus possible, for example, to remove a jammed fastening element from the bolt receptacle 110 without fearing that the drive-in element 120 will inadvertently accelerate towards the bolt receptacle.
- a trigger (not shown), for example trigger 34 shown in FIG. 1, is drawn by a user of device 100.
- the clutch device 150 releases the driving element 120, while the cylindrical container 130 is held in the clamped position by the gear wheel 145.
- the driving-in element 120 is accelerated by the relaxing gas spring toward the bolt receptacle 110 in order to drive a fastening element arranged therein into the ground.
- a cam drive, a spindle drive and/or a worm gear is used instead of the gear drive with or without a gear.
- the cylindrical container itself is threaded and driven like a screw, for example by a recirculating ball nut.
- a driving element 220 is shown in a longitudinal section (FIG. 7) or in a top view (FIG. 8).
- the driving-in element 220 comprises a piston 225 and a piston 225 protruding along a cylinder axis 235 Piston rod 226.
- a front end 227 of the piston rod 226 is intended to meet a fastening element in order to drive it into a substrate.
- the front end 227 has a guide contour for improved guidance of the fastening element.
- the piston 225 has two guide elements 228 each arranged in a circumferential groove and a seal 229 likewise arranged in a circumferential groove.
- the guide elements 228 are ring-shaped and are used for guided movement of the piston 225 within a cylindrical container (not shown).
- the seal 229 is also ring-shaped and serves to seal the movement of the piston 225 within the cylindrical container.
- the drive-in element 220 has a rotationally symmetrical shape and is constructed more robustly than a drive-in element with a drive contour such as a toothed rack.
- a drive contour such as a toothed rack.
- a long service life is achieved for the driving element.
- FIGS. 9 to 12 show a longitudinal section of a further exemplary embodiment of a device 301 for driving a fastening element into a substrate in successive operating phases.
- the device 301 has a bolt receptacle 310, a driving element 320 which can be moved towards the bolt receptacle 310 between an initial position (FIGS. 9 to 11) and a setting position (FIG. 12) and has a peripheral and circumferential depression 321, and a cylindrical container 330 with a cylindrical axis 335 on.
- the driving-in element 320 comprises a piston 325 which is arranged in the cylindrical container 330 so as to be movable along the cylinder axis 335 .
- the piston 325 thus closes off a partial volume of the cylindrical container 330 on the right in FIGS. 9 to 12, in which a gas spring 337 is formed.
- the gas spring 337 is preferably already in the relaxed state under a pre-pressure of, for example, 80 bar. In the tensioned state of the gas spring, the pressure is then, for example, 150 bar. Due to the high admission pressure, a compact design of the device is possible even with high driving energy.
- the driving element 320 and the cylindrical container 330 preferably together form a unit which is simple can be exchanged, for example to counteract possible piston breakage, tip wear or seal wear and the associated loss of performance, or to change the driving energy by means of different gas springs and open up additional areas of application.
- An assembly and disassembly of the cylindrical container and optionally the drive-in element is preferably carried out on the side of a housing of the device facing away from the bolt receptacle.
- the cylindrical container 330 has, on its end face 336 facing the bolt receptacle 310, a driver 332, which takes the driving element 320 with it from its set position into the starting position.
- the driver 332 also serves as a buffer for the driving element 320 and has an elastic material such as an elastomer for this purpose.
- the cylindrical container 330 has a guide element 333 for the driving element and ventilation openings 334 on its end face 336 facing the bolt receptacle 310 .
- the cylindrical container 330 is closed on the end face facing away from the bolt receptacle 310 .
- the device 301 has a coupling device 350 for temporarily holding the driving-in element 120 in the starting position.
- the coupling device 350 comprises three spherical locking elements 351 that can be moved transversely to the cylinder axis 335 and an inner sleeve 352 aligned along the cylinder axis 335 with three recesses 353 running transversely to the cylinder axis 335.
- the locking elements 351 are each accommodated in one of the recesses 353 and engage in the circumferential depression 321 of the driving element 320 in order to hold the driving element 320 in the initial position.
- the locking elements 351 are preferably evenly distributed around the cylinder axis 335.
- the coupling device comprises one, two, four or more locking elements.
- the coupling device 350 comprises an outer sleeve 354 which encompasses the inner sleeve 352 and has a peripheral support surface 355 for supporting the locking elements 351 directed radially inwards.
- the support surface 355 is inclined relative to the cylinder axis 335 at an acute angle.
- the coupling device 350 comprises a restoring spring 356 which acts on the outer sleeve 354 with a force in the direction of the cylinder axis 335. That of the bolt receptacle 310
- the facing end face 336 of the cylindrical container 330 forms an actuating element which actuates the clutch device 350 .
- the cylindrical container 330 is first conveyed to the unclamped position (FIG. 9).
- the driver 332 moves the driving-in element 320 into the starting position.
- the locking elements 351 then engage in the peripheral recess 321 on the driving element 320 and hold the driving element 320 in the starting position.
- the locking elements 351 are supported by the outer sleeve 354 against a radially outward movement, the outer sleeve 354 in turn being preloaded by the return spring 356 into the position shown in FIG.
- the cylindrical container 330 is conveyed to the clamped position, while the driving element 320 is held in place by the clutch device 350 in the starting position.
- the gas spring 337 located in the closed partial volume to the right of the piston 325 is compressed and tensioned.
- the end face 336 of the cylindrical container 330 is then in axial contact with the outer sleeve 354 .
- the coupling device 350 remains in position during this process.
- a further subsequent step triggered by pulling a trigger (not shown) of the device 301, the cylindrical container 330 is moved further towards the bolt receptacle 310 by a triggering distance of, for example, a few millimeters.
- the cylindrical container 330 actuates the coupling device 350 with its end face 336, which acts as an actuating element, in that the end face 336 moves the outer sleeve 354 toward the bolt receptacle 310 against a restoring force of the restoring spring 356.
- the support surface 355 which is inclined relative to the cylinder axis 335, allows the locking elements 351 sufficient freedom of movement radially outwards, the locking elements 351 release the driving element 320.
- the clutch device is released mechanically by pulling the trigger.
- the coupling device comprises a bolt arranged in front of an end face of the driving element facing the bolt receptacle, which bolt is moved out of the movement path of the driving element by pulling the trigger in order to release the driving element.
- the driving-in element 320 released in this way is accelerated by the relaxing gas spring towards the bolt receptacle 310 in order to drive a fastening element arranged therein into the ground. Excess kinetic energy of the driving-in element 320 is finally absorbed by the elastic driver 332 .
- a driving-in device additionally has a spacer, which is arranged between the cylindrical container and the coupling device.
- An axial position of the spacer relative to the coupling device can be adjusted by means of an operating element such as an adjusting wheel in order to influence the clamping position of the cylindrical container and thus the compression of the gas spring.
- a driving-in device has a friction brake, which withdraws energy from the driving-in element through friction in order to adjust the driving-in energy.
- the driving-in energy can be set to a desired value by regulating the force with which the friction brake is in contact with the moving driving-in element.
