  • the first exchangeable housing part 420 comprises negative and positive terminals 424, 426 adapted to align with corresponding terminals 412, 414 of the motor 408, when the first exchangeable housing part 420 is connected to the first housing part 402.
  • the modular blower in its first configuration shown in Figure 4B is a blower with a removable battery.
  • the modular blower 400 of Figures 4A to 4C also includes a second exchangeable housing part 430.
  • the second exchangeable housing part 430 comprises a power converter 432 for converting mains power into the electrical power required by the motor 408.
  • the converter 432 may thus comprise various known parts, such as transformers, rectifiers and smoothing capacitors, etc. to achieve the required conversion of the mains power supply to the input requirements of the motor.
  • the convertor 432 may be specifically configured for a certain type of blower, i.e. a particular type of motor 408. In other words, the converter 432 may only convert the mains power supply into one predetermined output power suitable for the electric motor 408 of a specific modular blower 400.
  • the converter 432 is connected to a mains power plug 438 via a mains lead 440.
  • the second exchangeable housing 430 may be removably connected to the first housing part 402 of the blower 400.
  • terminals 434 and 436 of the converter 432 align with corresponding terminals 412, 414 of the motor 408.
  • the modular blower 400 is then in a second configuration ( Figure 4C ), in which the housing comprises a removable power converter 432 for supplying the blower with power.
  • the removable power convertor 432 is connectable to a mains power outlet by the mains power plug 438. Therefore, in its second configuration, the modular blower 400 is a plug-in blower.
  • the blower 400 is significantly lighter than the blower in its first configuration shown in Figure 4B .
  • the second exchangeable housing part may also include a small back-up battery as a safety measure if the main power supply fails, similar to what has been described with respect to the welding kit above and shown in Figure 2 .
  • the first and second exchangeable housing parts 420, 430 have a substantially identical shape.
  • the size and contours of the first and second exchangeable housing parts 420, 430 are substantially the same, such that the modular housing of the blower 400 shown in Figures 4A to 4C has substantially identical aa shape/contours in its first and second configuration.
  • This has the advantage that the modular blower 400 may be carried in the same way by the user whether the modular housing 400 is in its first configuration ( Figure 4B ) or in its second configuration ( Figure 4C ).
