Abstract

An upholstered piece of furniture comprises a structure formed by components such as a backrest, a seat, side parts suitable for defining armrests, provided with a layer of soft material, and covered by a final external covering fabric, and also interlocking means and/or bayonet means and/or quick coupling means and/or tear-off means suitable for allowing the removable fastening of said components together.

Description

  • The present invention relates to an upholstered piece of furniture.
  • The invention in object in particular is advantageously used in the sector of the production of sofas, armchairs and the like, to which the following description will make explicit reference without thereby losing generality, in order to allow and facilitate the final disposal of such sofas, armchairs and similar, at the end of their use.
  • Currently, in the upholstered furniture sector, such as armchairs, sofas and the like, there is not much attention paid to ecological sustainability and many manufacturers do not follow a correct policy which facilitates the final disposal of the product.
  • Armchairs and sofas are in fact usually composed of metal, aluminium, sponges, foam rubber, wood and fabrics, or rather various materials which cannot be recycled in the same way or in the same single place of disposal and recycling.
  • Furthermore, all these components are very often glued together or fixed by means of screws and bolts and therefore are difficult to separate.
  • This means that the end user generally limits himself to disposing of such sofas and/or armchairs by throwing them entirely in dry waste rather than separating the individual components, before destroying them The scope of the present invention is to solve the problems mentioned above.
  • In particular, an aim of the present invention is realizing an upholstered piece of furniture which can be easily and quickly separated into the various individual constructive components so as to make it easily disposable and recyclable, once its use has ended.
  • Another scope of the present invention is that of realizing an upholstered piece of furniture in which the disposal operation is more economical and faster with the advantageous consequence that users will be more encouraged to dispose of the product correctly.
  • The structural and functional characteristics of the present invention and its advantages over the prior art will become even clearer and more evident from the underlying claims, and in particular from an examination of the following description.
  • The invention in object used in the sector for the production of upholstered furniture, such as for example a sofa, an armchair or the like, to which the following description will make explicit reference without thereby losing generality, comprises a structure, as is known, formed as a whole by a backrest, a seat, and lateral components able to define armrests.
  • These essential components, usually made of wood or metal, are generally equipped with a layer of soft material, for example such as foam rubber, sponge or equivalent soft materials, all covered by a final external covering fabric such as leather, alcantara, velvet, etc. designed to define and also represent the aesthetic and design aspect of the upholstered furniture itself. In order to allow for the creation of an upholstered piece of furniture which is easy and rapid to separate into the various individual constructive components in such a way as to make it easily disposable and recyclable, once its use is finished, the innovation in question provides that the aforementioned component elements are suitably fixed together by means of elements that can be easily and quickly decoupled from each other, such as for example through the use of interlocking means and/or bayonet means and/or quick coupling means and/or tear-off means and equivalent, thus avoiding the use of screws, nails, various adhesives which make disassembling the upholstered piece of furniture itself very difficult and laborious.
  • By way of non-limiting example only, the seat, the backrest and the lateral portions are coupled together and fixed through the use of interlocking and/or bayonet and/or wooden cylinder means, while the layer of foam and the external fabric is fixed to the aforementioned seat, backrest and side portions by means of tear-off parts or tapes (e.g. Velcro ®).
  • Possible movement mechanisms such as recliners for headboards and footboards or gas actuators can furthermore be mounted and made operative by means of the advantageous use of fixing pins with removable split pins and therefore easily reusable and/or recyclable.

Claims (2)

  1. Upholstered furniture, comprising a structure formed by components such as a backrest, a seat, side parts suitable for defining armrests, provided with a layer of soft material, and covered by a final external covering fabric, characterized in that it also comprises interlocking means and/or bayonet means and/or quick coupling means and/or tear-off means suitable for allowing the removable fastening of said components together.
  2. Upholstered furniture according to claim 1, characterized in that it also comprises fixing pin means with removable cotter pins suitable for removably fixing movement mechanisms such as recliners for headboards and footboards or gas actuators.
