Definitions
- the present subject matter relates to a straddle-type motor vehicle. More particularly but not exclusively, to a conduit of the straddle-type motor vehicle for packaging of one or more electrical components in the vehicle.
- one or more electrical components are packaged on frame assembly of the vehicle.
- the packaging of the one or more electrical components are achieved by mounting the one or more electrical components by means of mounting brackets.
- the mounting brackets are welded on the frame assembly.
- the frame assembly consisting of mounting brackets is usually covered by plurality of body panels made of plastic or metals and the body panels are fastened at all intended joints.
- the plurality of body panels should be configured such that they can adequately cover the frame along with the mounting brackets as desired, in the vehicle.
- the one or more control units along with their mounting brackets are disposed either on right side or left side of the vehicle.
- Figure 1 depicts a side view of an exemplary saddle-type vehicle 100, in accordance with an embodiment of the present subject matter.
- Figure 2 depicts a side view of an exemplary saddle-type vehicle 100, in accordance with an embodiment of the present subject matter.
- Figure 3 illustrates a left side view of a conduit as mounted in the saddle type vehicle.
- Figure 4 illustrates a left side view of the conduit along with one or more electrical components.
- Figure 5a illustrates a top perspective view of the conduit.
- Figure 5b illustrates a rear perspective view of the conduit.
- a saddle type vehicle consists of a motor, batteries, controllers etc. All of these components tend to generate heat during vehicle running condition which directly affects the efficiency of the vehicle.
- a cooling system is incorporated in the vehicle.
- a conventional type of vehicle with an air-cooling system that consists of air duct occupies more space.
- This air-cooling system that is bulkier, tends to result in a complex vehicle layout with requirement of more space in the vehicle along width and length of the vehicle which is often not feasible.
- the one or more electrical components are also to be packaged in the vehicle.
- the one or more electrical components like charger socket, relays, etc. and electric cables routing.
- the present subject matter is proposed to address the above stated problems by being able to achieve an efficient cooling of the one or more electrical components and other vehicular parts in the vehicle while overcoming above problems and other problems of known art.
- the cooling system layout is configured with a conduit in such a way that a cavity is formed at a central region without compromising on an inlet portion of the conduit.
- the conduit includes one or more central portions running parallel to each other and divided by the cavity into two paths. The two paths are configured to converge as a single outlet portion.
- the conduit is configured to include the cavity at the central region to accommodate a charging cord, configured to facilitate routing of one or more electrical cables and mounting and obtaining one or more wiring harness through a simpler routing along the one or more central portions along with being able to achieve an efficient cooling functionality of the one or more electrical components and one or more vehicular parts.
- the conduit is packaged in the vehicle, in particular on a bottom portion of a front panel, with the conduit inlet opening being disposed in between a front wheel and a front suspension lower bracket.
- the conduit extends along a step through portion of the vehicle.
- the conduit is connected to a portion of a frame assembly and in between two or more central frames.
- the conduit is configured to extend rearwardly to carry the cool air towards one or more controllers and the motor, which are the critical electrical components in the vehicle [00017]
- the inlet portion of the conduit is packaged in a position, wherein at least a portion of the inlet portion is disposed behind the front wheel, such that the atmospheric air enters the inlet portion in abundance during vehicle running condition.
- the conduit is configured to include one inlet portion, two or more central portions in the middle of the conduit and an outlet portion that allows the air to flow towards the motor and one or more electrical components.
- the two or more central portions include one or more openings, disposed substantially in the longitudinal middle region of the intermediate central portions which are provided in order to cool the one or more electrical components that are being supported by the conduit, in particular, in a cavity being configured in the conduit.
- the one or more controllers are packaged at the rear side of the conduit, at a close proximity to the outlet portion of the conduit, such that one or more cooling fins on the controller are facing the one or more openings in the conduit.
- the conduit is configured to include bends, depressions and variable cross section to avoid interferences with various portions of the frame, and surrounding parts in the vehicle.
- the conduit is configured to efficiently provide cooling as desired.
- the conduit is mounted in a front portion of the vehicle, near the inlet to a sub frame of the frame assembly.
- the conduit is configured to include one or more mountings to the frame assembly, the one or more mountings are provided at the one or more connecting portions of the conduit.
- one or more critical electrical parts like relays, fuses are packaged on the conduit, in the cavity.
- the cavity in the conduit not only allows the electrical cables to be routed from front to rear side but also the cables can be mounted on the conduit.
- the cavity in the conduit is configured such that the routing of one or more wiring harness is simpler and the length of electrical cables is reduced, as a result reduction in cost is achieved and also the energy losses are reduced thereby enhancing the efficiency.
- the simpler routing of the wiring harness is achieved by configuring the conduit to enable mounting of the one or more wiring harness and to support the wiring harness. This way, the wiring harness is prevented from interfering with the surrounding parts and an already configured path, in the form of conduit is facilitating the routing of the one or more wiring harness. This provides elimination of additional path that otherwise has to be configured for facilitating routing of the one or more wiring harness.
- the conduit is configured to provide extra space for packaging of small electrical parts like starter relays, fuses, etc.
