Definitions

  • the invention refers to an assembly of an electric melting fuse with knife blade contacts and an electric measuring apparatus, and simultaneously also to an electric melting fuse, which is suitable for use in such an assembly.
  • Such inventions belong to electricity, more precisely to basic electric components, and in particular to protective components, in which the current flows through a melting member, so that by electric overload an electric current is interrupted due to transposing of melted material of said melting member.
  • the features related to a casing such invention belongs to Class H 01 H 85/165, while by taking into consideration also the features of knife blade contacts such invention may also belong to Class H 01 H 85/153.
  • said electric melting fuse with knife blade contact is generally a fuse, which comprises a closed and electric insulating casing as well as a melting member, which is mounted within the interior of said casing and is in both terminal areas of the casing electrically connected with knife blade contacts, which protrude apart from each other, so that each of said knife blade contacts is adapted for insertion into a suitable fork-like contact, which is available within the electric circuit, by which said fuse is then integrated into the electric circuit.
  • fuses are known to skilled persons as NV-fuses, while their characteristics and dimensions, which in particular relate to said integration into electric circuit in view of security and replacing ability, are also defined in the international standard IEC-60269-2.
  • Such fuse is widely applicable for protection of low-voltage distribution circuits, like household electric circuits or industrial plant switchboards, against electric overloads caused by excessive current.
  • said electric measuring apparatus should be understood as an additional apparatus, which is simultaneously with said fuse integrated into the same electric circuit and is foreseen for measuring of a pre-determined electric values, like measuring of e.g. electric energy or electric power consumption.
  • the present invention is based on a problem, how to conceive an assembly of an electric melting fuse with knife blade contacts and an accompanied electric measuring apparatus, so that such established assembly should consist of a fuse with a sufficient interrupting capability for the purposes of protecting of each corresponding electric circuit, as well as of an accompanied measuring device, could still be realized within the frame of the same dimensions like in commonly used fuses with knife blade contacts, which are known from the state of the art, wherein the fuse as such, when disabled upon interruption of its melting member, should still be easily replaceable, and should moreover, by each replacement thereof prior to its re-integration into the electric circuit, also be without any problems or risks able for combining with each measuring apparatus, which has been previously used and is still applicable.
  • the overall length of the casing of the fuse and the casing of the measuring apparatus are equal to the length of the casing of said standardized and commonly used fuse as known from the prior art, so that such assembly of a fuse and an electric measuring apparatus can be generally integrated into each electric circuit in practically the same manner like the other standardized prior art fuses.
  • the length or the height of the casing of the fuse must be essentially reduced, when compared with standardized and commonly used NV- fuses with knife blade contacts, so that consequently also the melting member must be essentially shorter and the quantity of arc-extinguishing material within the interior of the fuse casing is essentially reduced, which then unavoidably leads to essential reduction of interrupting capability of the fuse, at least when compared with said classical fuse with knife blade contacts.
  • a similar solution is also disclosed in DE 10 2018 213 522 Al, and also refers to a fuse with a melting member and a pair of knife blade contacts, which is combined with an electric measuring apparatus, which is embedded within a separate casing. Also in such case the casing of the measuring apparatus is placeable onto the one of said knife blade contacts, so that the fuse casing and the casing of the measuring apparatus are aligned along the longitudinal axis of the knife blade contacts. Also in this case, the overall length of both casings corresponds to the length of the casing of a conventional fuse with knife blade contacts, wherein the casing of the fuse as such is essentially, namely approx for one third, shorter that casing of a conventional fuse. Consequently, also the melting member must then be essentially shorter, which has an essential impact to reactions of the melting member to excessive current or short circuit conditions, so that also in this case the interrupting capability of the fuse is essentially decreased, at least when compared with said conventional fuse.
  • the present invention refers to an assembly of a melting fuse with knife blade contacts and an electric measuring apparatus, wherein said fuse and said measuring apparatus are via said knife blade contacts on said fuse simultaneously integrated within the same electric circuit.

  • said fuse is by means of such knife blade contacts insertable into a pair of fork-shaped contacts, which are to this aim foreseen in each electric circuit, in which said fuse is to be integrated.
  • an electric conductive melting member which is available within the interior of said casing of the fuse, can be interrupted at pre-determined conditions and is electrically connected with each of said knife blade contacts and is moreover also surrounded with a sufficient quantity of granulated fireproof arc-extinguishing material.

  • the width i.e. the sum of a thickness of the secondary chamber and a thickness of the casing of the fuse corresponds to a thickness of a standardized and commonly used electric fuse.

Description

Assembly of a melting fuse with knife blade contacts and an electric measuring apparatus, as well as a melting fuse suitable for use in such an assembly
The invention refers to an assembly of an electric melting fuse with knife blade contacts and an electric measuring apparatus, and simultaneously also to an electric melting fuse, which is suitable for use in such an assembly. According to the International Patent Classification such inventions belong to electricity, more precisely to basic electric components, and in particular to protective components, in which the current flows through a melting member, so that by electric overload an electric current is interrupted due to transposing of melted material of said melting member. On such basis and by taking into consideration also the features related to a casing, such invention belongs to Class H 01 H 85/165, while by taking into consideration also the features of knife blade contacts such invention may also belong to Class H 01 H 85/153.
In this, said electric melting fuse with knife blade contact is generally a fuse, which comprises a closed and electric insulating casing as well as a melting member, which is mounted within the interior of said casing and is in both terminal areas of the casing electrically connected with knife blade contacts, which protrude apart from each other, so that each of said knife blade contacts is adapted for insertion into a suitable fork-like contact, which is available within the electric circuit, by which said fuse is then integrated into the electric circuit. Such fuses are known to skilled persons as NV-fuses, while their characteristics and dimensions, which in particular relate to said integration into electric circuit in view of security and replacing ability, are also defined in the international standard IEC-60269-2. Such fuse is widely applicable for protection of low-voltage distribution circuits, like household electric circuits or industrial plant switchboards, against electric overloads caused by excessive current.
On the other hand, said electric measuring apparatus should be understood as an additional apparatus, which is simultaneously with said fuse integrated into the same electric circuit and is foreseen for measuring of a pre-determined electric values, like measuring of e.g. electric energy or electric power consumption.
The present invention is based on a problem, how to conceive an assembly of an electric melting fuse with knife blade contacts and an accompanied electric measuring apparatus, so that such established assembly should consist of a fuse with a sufficient interrupting capability for the purposes of protecting of each corresponding electric circuit, as well as of an accompanied measuring device, could still be realized within the frame of the same dimensions like in commonly used fuses with knife blade contacts, which are known from the state of the art, wherein the fuse as such, when disabled upon interruption of its melting member, should still be easily replaceable, and should moreover, by each replacement thereof prior to its re-integration into the electric circuit, also be without any problems or risks able for combining with each measuring apparatus, which has been previously used and is still applicable.
An electric fuse with adjoined electric current measuring apparatus is disclosed in WO 2017/078525 Al, where both components are joined within the fuse casing. When considering limitations in view of dimensions, which are given by limited space available for mounting of a fuse, said electric measuring apparatus with all belonging components is embedded within the interior of the fuse casing, so that consequently the space, which is available for embedding also the melting member and each surrounding arc-extinguishing material, is such essentially reduced. In order to assure each required interrupting capability of such fuse, either the thickness of the wall of the fuse casing must be reduced, which may in fuses with ceramic casing essentially jeopardize operational safety of the fuse, or the overall dimensions of the fuse must be extended, which however then makes impossible each required integration of such fuse into common fork-like contacts used for receiving of commonly used fuses in commonly used switchboards. On the other hand it also means that upon each overload due to excessive current, when the fuse is disabled and the electric circuit there-through is interrupted, such fuse needs to be replaced by a supplemental fuse with uninterrupted melting member. However, by each replacement of the fuse simultaneously also each accompanying measuring apparatus, although it is still perfectly usable, is unfortunately thrown-away.
A further approach is proposed in EP 3 553 536 A1, according to which on the one hand an electric melting fuse with knife blade contacts is proposed, and on the other hand also an electric measuring apparatus, which is however embedded within a separate casing, which is furnished with a throughout passage, the silhouette of which correspond to silhouette of a knife blade contact of the fuse. Consequently, such casing of the measuring apparatus is then placeable on the one of said knife blade contacts. The shape and also the length of said knife blade contacts remain the same as in other standardized and commonly used fuses as known from the prior art. Also the overall length of the casing of the fuse and the casing of the measuring apparatus are equal to the length of the casing of said standardized and commonly used fuse as known from the prior art, so that such assembly of a fuse and an electric measuring apparatus can be generally integrated into each electric circuit in practically the same manner like the other standardized prior art fuses. However, due to essential length or height of the casing of the measuring apparatus, the length or the height of the casing of the fuse must be essentially reduced, when compared with standardized and commonly used NV- fuses with knife blade contacts, so that consequently also the melting member must be essentially shorter and the quantity of arc-extinguishing material within the interior of the fuse casing is essentially reduced, which then unavoidably leads to essential reduction of interrupting capability of the fuse, at least when compared with said classical fuse with knife blade contacts.
A similar solution is also disclosed in DE 10 2018 213 522 Al, and also refers to a fuse with a melting member and a pair of knife blade contacts, which is combined with an electric measuring apparatus, which is embedded within a separate casing.
The present invention refers to an assembly of a melting fuse with knife blade contacts and an electric measuring apparatus, wherein said fuse and said measuring apparatus are via said knife blade contacts on said fuse simultaneously integrated within the same electric circuit.
Said melting fuse comprises a tubular casing, which consists of an electric insulating material and is on each of its opened opposite terminal portions closed by a cover, wherein an electric conductive knife blade contact is available on each of said covers, and wherein said knife blade contacts protrude apart from each other and apart from said casing, but are with regard to each other arranged in a same plane and are also collinear. Thanks to such concept, said fuse is by means of such knife blade contacts insertable into a pair of fork-shaped contacts, which are to this aim foreseen in each electric circuit, in which said fuse is to be integrated. Moreover, an electric conductive melting member, which is available within the interior of said casing of the fuse, can be interrupted at pre-determined conditions and is electrically connected with each of said knife blade contacts and is moreover also surrounded with a sufficient quantity of granulated fireproof arc-extinguishing material.
On the other hand, said measuring apparatus comprises a casing, which consists of an electric insulating material and within which each particular electric or electronic measuring and optionally also communicating components are embedded, wherein said casing is furnished with a throughout passage, which is adapted for placement of said casing on one of said knife blade contacts of said fuse, so that upon placement of said measuring apparatus on each selected knife blade contact of the fuse, and upon integration of the fuse into each disposable electric circuit via said knife blade contacts also each electric or electronic components within said casing of the measuring apparatus are properly integrated within the same electric circuit through said electric fuse. Said casing of the electric measuring apparatus is by means of a suitable retaining means secured against undesired removal from each corresponding knife blade contact of the fuse.
Overall dimensions of both mutually assembled casings, namely the length, the width and the depth, and also dimensions and position of corresponding knife blade contacts, correspond to those in standardized and commonly used fuses, so that such an assembly of a melting fuse and a measuring apparatus is suitable for mounting in commonly used and standardized fork-shaped contacts within each disposable electric circuit.
The invention proposes that an uniformly conceived casing of said electric measuring apparatus is L-shaped in profile, and comprises two substantially perpendicularly with regard to each other extending chambers, namely a primary and secondary chamber. Said primary chamber is furnished with a throughout passage, which is suitable for receiving a knife blade contact of the fuse and is also adjusted for receiving of all those electric and electronic components of the measuring apparatus, which must during the operation be maintained in electric contact with said knife blade contact. Said secondary chamber of the casing of the measuring apparatus is within the context of such L-shaped casing arranged to extend substantially perpendicularly with respect to said primary chamber, and within the interior connected there-with without any essential obstacles, and is also adjusted for being rest on the casing of the fuse along the area between the covers with knife blade contacts, and is at the same time suitable for receiving of all those electric or electronic components, which during the use need not to be brought into a direct electric contact with the knife blade contact. Still within the context of the proposed invention it is furthermore foreseen that in such an assembly of said fuse and the belonging measuring apparatus, the thickness of said primary chamber in a direction transversally with respect to corresponding knife blade contact is determined in such manner, that on the one hand integration of at least those electric and electronic components of the measuring apparatus is enabled, which must during the use be maintained in a direct electric contact with corresponding knife blade contact of the fuse, and that on the other hand also a sufficiently reliable and stable attachment of the casing of the measuring apparatus onto each corresponding knife blade contact of the fuse can be assured together with properly securing of the casing of the measuring apparatus against undesired removal from the knife blade contact by means of a suitable retaining means.
Still further is within the context of the proposed invention foreseen that the thickness of the secondary chamber is selected in such manner that all residual electric or electronic components of the measuring apparatus, which are not integrated within said primary chamber, can be introduced and mounted there-into, wherein however each electric or electronic components of the measuring apparatus within both chambers of the casing of the electric measuring apparatus are at least electrically connectable with each other and form a complete and functional entity.
Within the context of the proposed invention it is also foreseen that in such an assembly of the electric fuse and the electric measuring apparatus, the complete length of both assembled casings, namely a sum of the length of the casing of the fuse and of said thickness of the primary chamber of the electric measuring apparatus, corresponds to the length of a casing of a standardized and commonly used electric fuse, while the depth of the casing of the fuse as well as of the casing of the electric measuring apparatus are equal to each other and also correspond to a depth of a standardized and commonly used electric fuse, and that also the width i.e. the sum of a thickness of the secondary chamber and a thickness of the casing of the fuse, corresponds to a thickness of a standardized and commonly used electric fuse.
Within the context of the proposed invention it is still further foreseen that in such an assembly of the electric fuse and the electric measuring apparatus also the dimensions and orientation of knife blade contacts, which extend parallel with said secondary chamber of the casing of the electric measuring apparatus, are adjusted to dimensions and orientation of knife blade contacts in a standardized and commonly used electric fuse. To this aim, said throughout passage in the primary chamber of the casing of the electric measuring apparatus is centrally arranged, while on the fuse said knife blade contacts are offset apart from its central axis and are arranged at such pre-determined distance apart from the central plane of the casing of the fuse, which substantially corresponds to a half of said thickness of the secondary chamber of the casing of the electric measuring apparatus. On the other hand, the one of said knife blade contacts is shorter than the other one, so that by total common length between both terminal points of both knife blade contacts, which generally corresponds to the total length of a standardized and commonly used electric fuse, the lengths of both knife blade contacts differ from each other for a pre-determined length difference.
The width or thickness of the secondary chamber of the casing of the electric measuring apparatus, which is foreseen for resting on the casing of the fuse along the area between the covers with knife blade contacts, does not exceed a quarter of the complete width of the primary chamber of the casing of the electric measuring apparatus. Within such context, also a further condition is met in accordance with the invention, namely that the width or thickness of the secondary chamber of the casing of the electric measuring apparatus by resting on the casing of the fuse along the area between the covers with knife blade contacts does not exceed a quarter of the sum of said width of the secondary chamber of the casing of the electric measuring apparatus and said width of the casing of the fuse, on the knife blade contact of which said casing of the electric measuring apparatus is placed.
The invention also provides that the depth of the primary chamber of the casing of the electric measuring apparatus, in which said throughout passage for receiving of said knife blade contact is provided, does not exceed a quarter of the complete length of the secondary chamber, which also does not exceed the sum of said thickness of the primary chamber of the casing of the electric measuring apparatus and the length of the casing of the fuse in the area between said covers with said knife blade contacts. In this, the difference between the lengths of both knife blade contacts at least approximately corresponds to said depth of the primary chamber of the casing of the electric measuring apparatus, and simultaneously does not exceed one third of the length of the casing of the fuse in the area between said covers with said knife blade contacts.
In one of possible embodiments of the invention, said electric measuring apparatus is an apparatus for measuring of electricity consumption within an electric circuit, in which said measuring apparatus is integrated and which is protected against potential electric overloads by means of said melting electric fuse with knife blade contacts. A further aspect of the proposed invention is also an electric melting fuse, which is conceived either for being used as such, or in combination with a previously mentioned casing of an electric measuring apparatus in the form of a previously mentioned assembly according to the invention.
A melting electric fuse according to the invention comprises a tubular casing, which consists of an electric insulating material and is on its both opposite terminal areas closed by a cover, wherein each of said covers is furnished with a knife blade contact, so that said knife blade contacts protrude apart from each other and also away from said casing and are arranged in alignment within the same plane and also linearly with each other, so that such fuse is by means of said knife blade contacts insertable into suitable fork-like contacts, which are for such purpose available within each electric circuit, into which such fuse is integrated, while at the same time an electrically conductive melting member, which can be interrupted at each pre-determined conditions, is available within the interior of said casing of the fuse, which is electrically connected with each of said knife blade contacts and is preferably surrounded by a pre-determined quantity of granulated fireproof arc extinguishing material. The invention provides that a casing of such a fuse is conceived symmetrically with respect to a central longitudinal plane, while said knife blade contacts are with regard to the casing arranged outside of its central area and are by taking into consideration their flat shape and orientation substantially parallel offset apart from said central plane at a pre-determined distance, while at each pre-determined common length of the fuse, one of the both knife blade contacts is longer than the other one for a pre-defmed length difference, which at least approximately corresponds to each estimated thickness of a primary chamber of a casing of an electric measuring apparatus, which is placeable thereon for the purpose of cooperating with such a fuse. A distance between the dominant central plane of said knife blade contacts and said central plane of the casing of the fuse is determined in dependency on the shorter width of the casing of the fuse and also on each complementary dimension of the casing of each complementary electric measuring apparatus, which is placeable on each corresponding knife blade contact of the fuse and is adjusted for integration into each electric circuit together with said fuse, so that the casing thereof extends at least partially along the casing of the fuse. In this, said distance between the central plane of the knife blade contact of the fuse and the central plane of the casing of the fuse corresponds to approximately 1/6 of the shorter width of the casing of the fuse, which substantially corresponds to at least approximately one half of said thickness of said along the casing of the fuse extending casing of each complementary electric measuring apparatus, which is suitable for integration into each electric circuit together with said fuse, so that in each established assembly of said fuse and said apparatus, consequently said knife blade contacts are centrally arranged.
As mentioned, at each pre-determined common length of the fuse, one of the both knife blade contacts is longer than the other one for a pre-defined length difference, wherein said difference between the lengths of both knife blade contacts is determined in dependency on the length of the casing of the fuse and substantially also on each complementary dimension of the casing of each complementary electric measuring apparatus, which is placeable on each longer knife blade contact of the fuse by inserting of said longer knife blade contact into a properly shaped throughout passage in the casing of said electric measuring apparatus, which is suitable for integration into each electric circuit together with said fuse. Said difference between the lengths of both knife blade contacts does not exceed one third of the length of the casing of the fuse between the covers with said knife blade contacts available there-on.
Melting electric fuse according to invention is suitable for use in assembled state together with a casing of another complementary electric apparatus, in particular of an electric measuring apparatus, for example an apparatus for measuring of electricity consumption within an electric circuit, within which said measuring apparatus is integrated and which is by means of said melting fuse with knife blade contact protected against potential electric overloads.
The invention will be explained in more detail on the basis of an embodiment, which is presented in the attached drawings, where
Fig. 1 is an isometric view of an assembly of an electric fuse with knife blade contacts and an electric measuring apparatus;
Fig. 2 is showing an assembly according to Fig. 1, presented in explosion view;
Fig. 3 is showing said assembly, presented in front view;
Fig. 4 is showing said assembly, presented in top view; and Fig. 5 is a longitudinal cross-section of said assembly along the plane V - V according to Fig. 4, i.e. transversally with regard to the dominant central plane of knife blade contacts.
An assembly of a melting electric fuse 1 with knife blade contacts 11’, 11 ’’and an electric measuring apparatus 2 is presented in Fig. 1 in its ready-to-use state. In addition to that, the sequence of assembling or disassembling is presented in Fig. 2, which occurs by replacing of the fuse 1 upon interruption of an electric circuit due short circuit or excessive current within the electric circuit, within which such an assembly according to the invention is integrated, which therefore also means that said fuse and said measuring apparatus can be via said knife blade contacts 11% 11” together and simultaneously integrated into the same electric circuit.
The melting fuse as such is known to each person skilled in the art and generally comprises a tubular casing 10, which is made of an electric insulating material, and is in each of its both opened terminal areas closed by means of a cover 10’, 10”, and an electric conductive knife blade contact 11’, 11” is available on each of said covers 10’, 10”.
Said knife blade contacts 1 G, 11” are aligned and equally oriented with regard each other and protrude apart from each other and apart from said casing 10, so that said fuse 1 is by means of such knife blade contacts 11’, 11” insertable into a pair of suitable fork-shaped contacts, which are to this aim foreseen in each electric circuit, in which said fuse 1 is intended to be integrated.
An electric conductive melting member 12 is available within the interior of said casing 10 of the fuse 1, which can be interrupted at pre-determined conditions and is electrically connected with each of said knife blade contacts 1 G, 11”, wherein it is preferably also surrounded with a sufficient quantity of granulated fireproof arc extinguishing material 13.
Said measuring apparatus 2, which in combination with the previously discussed fuse 1 forms an assembly according to the invention, on the other hand comprises a casing 20, which consists of an electric insulating material and within which each particular electric or electronic measuring and optionally also communicating components are embedded. Said casing 20 is furnished with a throughout passage 21, which is adapted for placement of said casing 20 on one of said knife blade contacts 1 , 11” of said fuse 1, so that upon placement of said measuring apparatus 2 on each selected knife blade contact 1 , 11” of the fuse 1, and upon integration of the fuse 1 into each disposable electric circuit via said knife blade contacts 11 11” also each electric or electronic components within said casing 20 of the measuring apparatus 2 are properly integrated within the same electric circuit through said electric fuse 1. Said casing 20 of the electric measuring apparatus 2 is by means of a suitable retaining means 3 secured against undesired removal from each corresponding knife blade contact 1 , 11” of the fuse 1. Said retaining means 3 can be available in various embodiments, wherein for the purposes of feasibility of the invention it is merely important that such retaining means 3 enables fixation of the casing 20 of the electric measuring apparatus 2 on each knife blade contact 1 G, 11” in the sense of preventing any displacement and in particular also each undesired removal, but should however also enable removal of the casing 20 from said knife blade contact 11’, 11”, when necessary and upon decision of each user, wherein in the shown embodiment (Figs. 1 and 2) said retaining means 3 is a commonly used Seeger ring 3, which is arrested in suitable slots 15, which are available on both opposite dominant external surfaces of the belonging knife blade contact 11’, 11” of the fuse 1.
Overall dimensions of both mutually assembled casings 10, 20, namely the length G, the width A + A and the depth T, and also dimensions and position of corresponding knife blade contacts 1 , 11”, correspond to those in standardized and commonly used fuses, so that such an assembly of said melting fuse 1 and said measuring apparatus 2 is suitable for inserting into commonly used and standardized fork-shaped contacts within each disposable electric circuit. Still within the context of the initially exposed technical problem, in such an assembly said casing 20 of said electric measuring apparatus 2 is uniformly conceived and L-shaped in profile, and moreover comprises two substantially perpendicularly with regard to each other extending chambers 20’, 20”, namely a primary chamber 20’, which is in said assembly arranged transversally with regard to the central longitudinal plane S of the fuse 1, and a secondary chamber 20”, which is arranged parallel to said central longitudinal plane S of the fuse 1. The primary chamber 20’ is furnished with a throughout passage 21, which is suitable for receiving a corresponding knife blade contact 11’, 11” of the fuse 1 and is also adjusted for receiving of all those electric and electronic components of the measuring apparatus 2, which must during the operation be maintained in electric contact with said knife blade contact 1 G, 11” of the fuse. The secondary chamber 20” of the casing (20) of the measuring apparatus 2 extends substantially perpendicularly to said primary chamber and is adjusted for being rest on the casing 10 of the fuse 1 along the area between the covers 10’, 10” with knife blade contacts 11 ’, 11”, and is at the same time also suitable for receiving of all those electric or electronic components, which during the use need not to be brought into a direct electric contact with the knife blade contact 11’, 11”.
In the discussed embodiment of the assembly of said fuse 1 and the belonging measuring apparatus 2, the thickness F of said primary chamber 20’ in a direction transversally with respect to corresponding knife blade contact 11’, 11” is determined in such manner, that on the one hand integration of at least those electric and electronic components of the measuring apparatus 2 is enabled, which must during the use be maintained in a direct electric contact with corresponding knife blade contact 1 , 11” of the fuse 1, and that on the other hand also a sufficiently reliable and stable attachment of the casing 20 of the measuring apparatus 2 onto each corresponding knife blade contact 11 11 ” of the fuse 1 can be assured together with reliable securing of the casing 20 of the measuring apparatus 2 against undesired removal from the knife blade contact 1 G, 11” by means of a suitable retaining means 3.
Moreover, thickness B of the secondary chamber 20” is selected in such manner that all residual electric or electronic components of the measuring apparatus 2, which are not integrated within said primary chamber 20’, can be introduced and mounted there-into, wherein however each electric or electronic components of the measuring apparatus 2 within both chambers 20’, 20” of the casing 20 of the electric measuring apparatus 2 are at least electrically connectable with each other and form a complete and functional entity.
Still further, in such an assembly of the electric fuse 1 and the electric measuring apparatus 2, the complete length G of both such assembled casings 10, 20, namely a sum of the length of the casing 10 of the fuse 1 as well as of said thickness F of the primary chamber 20’ of the electric measuring apparatus 2, equals to the length of a casing of a standardized and commonly used electric fuse. Similarly also the depth T of the casing 10 of the fuse 1 and the depth T of the casing 20 of the electric measuring apparatus 2 are equal to each other and also correspond to a depth of a standardized and commonly used electric fuse. And quite analogously, also the width A + A, namely the sum of a thickness B of the secondary chamber 20” and a thickness of the casing 10 of the fuse 1, corresponds to a thickness of a standardized and commonly used electric fuse.
On the other hand in such an assembly of the electric fuse 1 and the electric measuring apparatus 2 also the dimensions and orientation of knife blade contacts 11 ’, 11”, which extend parallel with said secondary chamber 20” of the casing 20 of the electric measuring apparatus 2, are adjusted to dimensions and orientation of knife blade contacts in a standardized and commonly used electric fuse. For such purpose a centrally arranged throughout passage 21 is available in the primary chamber 20’ of the casing 20 of the electric measuring apparatus 2 and is suitable for receiving of a knife blade contact 1 G, 11”, however, said knife blade contacts 11 ’, 11” on the fuse 1 are offset apart from the central axis thereof. This means that said knife blade contacts 1 G, 11” are arranged at such pre-determined distance E apart from the central plane S of the casing 10 of the fuse 1, which substantially corresponds to one half of said thickness B of the secondary chamber 20” of the casing 20 of the electric measuring apparatus 2. Moreover, by taking into consideration each desired total length L of the fuse 1 between both terminal edges of said knife blade contacts 11’, 11”, one of said knife blade contacts 1 G, 11”, which in accordance with Figs. 1 - 5 the contact 1 G, which is foreseen for receiving of said secondary chamber 20” of the electric measuring apparatus 2, is longer than the other knife blade contacts 11” for a pre-determined length difference F.
Thanks to said different lengths of said knife blade contacts 11’, 11” on the fuse 1 as such are then the effective lengths of both knife blade contacts 1 G, 11”, which protrude outside from the assembly of the fuse 1 and the apparatus 2 according to the invention equal to each other, wherein moreover the effective length of each knife blade contact 1 G, 11” also corresponds to the length of contact in a standardized and commonly used fuse as known in the prior art. However, said difference in lengths of knife blade contacts 1 G, 11” also cannot be an obstacle by using the fuse 1 as such and independently, namely without any casing 20 of the electric measuring apparatus 2 or any other appliance placed thereon. Due to maintaining of the functionality of the fuse 1 as such, and in particular due to ensuring of proper length of the melting member 12, sufficient stiffness and also each required volume around the melting member 12 within the interior of the casing 10 of the fuse 1, certain limitations of several important parameters are given in a further disclosure, which should also in the practice allow achieving of each expected interrupting ability of the fuse 1 , which is similar like by commonly known and standardized fuses.
For such purpose it still within the scope of the invention also foreseen that the width B of the secondary chamber 20” of the casing 20 shall does not exceed one quarter of the complete width 2A of the primary chamber 20’ of the casing 20 of the electric measuring apparatus 2. This also means that the width B of the secondary chamber 20” of the casing 20 shall not exceed one quarter of the sum of the width B of said secondary chamber 20” of the casing 20 of the electric measuring apparatus 2 and of the width G2 of the casing 10 of the fuse 1, on the knife blade contact 11’, 11” of which said casing 20 of the electric measuring apparatus 2 is placed.
It is also foreseen that the depth F of the primary chamber 20’ of the casing 20 of the electric measuring apparatus 2, in which said throughout passage 21 for receiving of said knife blade contact 1 G, 11” is provided, shall not exceed one quarter of the complete length G of the secondary chamber 20”, which shall also not exceed the sum of said thickness F of the primary chamber 20’ of the casing 20 of the electric measuring apparatus 2 and the length G2 of the casing 10 of the fuse 1 in the area between said covers 10’, 10” with said knife blade contacts 11’, 11”. Still further it is within the previously mentioned context also foreseen that the difference between the lengths of both knife blade contacts 1 , 11” shall at least approximately correspond to said depth F of the primary chamber 20’ of the casing 20 of the electric measuring apparatus 2, and shall simultaneously not exceed one third of the length G2 of the casing 10 of the fuse 1 in the area between said covers 10’, 10” with said knife blade contacts 1 , 11”.
Regarding the assembly as shown in Figs. 1 - 5, said electric measuring apparatus 2 is an apparatus for measuring of electricity consumption within an electric circuit, in which said measuring apparatus 2 is integrated and which is protected against potential electric overloads by means of said melting electric fuse 1 with knife blade contacts 11 ’, 11”.
Still within the context of the initially exposed technical problem, each person skilled in the art shall understand that the invention is actually not limited just to applying an electricity consumption measuring apparatus and even not to using any other pre-determined electric measuring apparatus 2, since just an assembly is proposed, in which the fuse 1 is used in combination with a casing 20 of an appliance, which is accordance with the invention within said limits in view of its dimensions placed on the one of both knife blade contacts 11’, 11 ” of the fuse 1.
On such basis also said electric melting fuse 1 (Figs 1 - 5) as such is exposed as a separate aspect of the proposed invention, and comprises a tubular casing 10, which consists of an electric insulating material and is on its both opposite terminal areas closed by a cover, wherein each of said covers is furnished with a knife blade contact 11’, 11 ”. Said knife blade contacts 1 G, 11” protrude apart from each other and also away from said casing 10 and are arranged in alignment within the same plane and also linearly with each other. The fuse 1 is by means of said knife blade contacts I P, 11” insertable into suitable fork-like contacts, which are for such purpose available within each electric circuit, into which such fuse 1 is integrated. An electric conductive and at each pre-determined conditions interruptable melting member 12 is available within the interior of said casing 10 of the fuse 1 , which is electrically connected with each of said knife blade contacts I P, 11” and is preferably surrounded by a pre-determined quantity of granulated fireproof arc- extinguishing material 13.
Such melting electric fuse 1 with knife blade contacts I P, 11” according to the invention excels in that although said casing 10 as such is conceived symmetrically with respect to central longitudinal plane S, said knife blade contacts I P, 11” are with regard to the casing 10 arranged outside of its central area and are by taking into consideration their flat shape and orientation substantially parallel offset apart from said central plane S at a pre-determined distance E. Moreover, at each pre determined common length L of the fuse 1 one of the both said knife blade contacts I P, 11” is longer than the other knife blade contact I P, 11” for a pre defined length difference, which at least approximately corresponds to each estimated thickness F of a primary chamber 20’ of a casing 20 of an electric measuring apparatus 2, which is placeable thereon for the purpose of cooperating with such a fuse 1.
In order to enable using of such fuse 1 in a previously discussed assembly in combination with said casing 20 of an electric measuring apparatus 2, said distance E between the central plane of said knife blade contacts I P, 11” and said central plane S of the casing 10 of the fuse 1 is determined depending on the shorter width G of the casing 10 of the fuse 1 and also on each complementary dimension B of the casing 20 of each complementary electric measuring apparatus 2, which can be placed on each corresponding knife blade contact 1 G, 11” of the fuse 1 and is adjusted for integration into each electric circuit together with said fuse 1 , so that its casing 20 extends at least substantially along the casing 10 of the fuse 1.
Consequently, said distance E between the central plane of the knife blade contact 1 G, 11” of the fuse 1 and the central plane S of the casing 10 of the fuse 1 corresponds to approximately 1/6 of the shorter width Gi of the casing 10 of the fuse 1, which substantially corresponds to at least approximately one half of said thickness B of said along the casing 10 of the fuse 1 extending casing 20 of each complementary electric measuring apparatus 2, which is suitable for integration into each electric circuit together with said fuse 1, so that as a consequence, in such established assembly of said fuse 1 and said apparatus 2, said knife blade contacts 1 G, 11” are then centrally arranged.
On the other hand, but still within the discussed context, said difference between the lengths of both knife blade contacts 11’, 11” is determined in dependency on the length G2 of the casing 10 of the fuse 1 and substantially also on each complementary dimension F of the casing 20 of each complementary electric measuring apparatus 2, which can be placed on each longer knife blade contact 1 G, 11” of the fuse 1 by inserting of said longer knife blade contact 1 G, 11” into a properly shaped throughout passage 21 in the casing 20 of said electric measuring apparatus 2, which is suitable for integration into each electric circuit together with said fuse 1. In this, said difference between the lengths of both knife blade contacts 1 G, 11” shall not exceed one third of the length G2 of the casing 10 of the fuse 1 between the covers 10’, 10” with said knife blade contacts 1 G, 11” available there-on.
