Definitions
- the present invention relates to a movement and locking device for swiveling casements, i.e., hinged at a side thereof, for example and in particular window shutters, to facilitate the opening, closing and stopping in the open position.
- Such a device essentially consists of a fixing plate, to be applied to the casement, and a lever rotatably pivoted on said plate and with an operating end projecting from the hinged side and having a descending extension which, with the casement in an open configuration, descends below the surface of the window sill, while a specific locking member between lever and plate keeps it secured on the face of the casement, thus preventing it from closing in the case of wind.
- a device comprising a lever with two separate conjugatable bodies conjugated at an end thereof in a tightening pin adapted to bend it by adjusting it and fix it so that the descending end of the lever frontally abuts with the edge of the window sill, whatever the projection thereof with respect to the surface of the casement to be treated.
- such a device comprises a bulky junction just at the corner of the casement where the lever is positioned, with application problems and making it structurally inhomogeneous and unsuitable for being made of the most robust molded metal or section bar without unsightly strengthening and with subsequent breaking points.
- the technical problem underlying the present invention is to provide a movement device while overcoming the drawbacks mentioned with reference to the prior art.
- This problem is solved by a movement device for swiveling casements with a lever with two separate bodies joined to each other at a specifically arched end thereof, where said joined ends mutually cooperate to define a linear adjustment and tightening member with the whole body of the lever, which is thus more harmonious and structurally compact: it is understood that the connection does not involve a single point, as in the fulcrum of the previous patents, rather a wide surface between the cooperating elements.
- a device where said lever has two separate bodies joined at a curved end portion thereof to form an adjustment member with an arched horizontal guide, with parts provided with mutually engaging mirroring faces and with respective arched sliding seats arranged about a distant virtual fulcrum.
- a second embodiment of the invention provides a device where the descending part designed to act as a striker element of the lever is extendable downwards so as to abuttingly reach the edge of the window sill, even if it is too low with respect to the laying surface at the base of the casement of the device.
- a third embodiment includes a spacer accessory, with a forward abutment surface, i.e., adapted to cover the excessive distance between the surface of the casement and the edge of the window sill if required, or when the space between the closed inner and outer casements is not enough to contain a bent lever sufficiently.
- a device 1 is fixed to a swiveling window casement hinged on a side.
- Said casement A generally comprises a movement side which, when the casement is in a closed configuration, forms the inner face A1 of the window.
- Casement A further comprises a hinged edge A2 fixed to the window frame by means of hinges C of conventional type, for example, and a lower edge A3, which is the base of casement A.
- the device comprises a fixing member 200 with a fixed plate 2 which is fixable, e.g., by screws 3 in holes 3', on the lower surface A1 of casement on the hinged side A2, and having an upper extension 4 adapted to protect the casement from contact with lever 5, and with:
- lever 5 The limited upwards rotation (a-a) of lever 5 is thus allowed so as to disengage it from the locking element 6/7 of the fixing member 200, while lever 5 is allowed to rotate about an axis substantially perpendicular to the surface A1 (b-b) of the casement to allow raising and lowering the lever 5 and the respective locking member while, with said wings 9, 9' arranged according to an inclined axis, the lever in the resting position takes such an inclined position that the descending extension thereof, referred to as a leg 14, remains suspended from the surface P of the window sill D.
- An adjustment member 10 preferably a front joint, is obtained with two arched portions 16, 16' of the barrel circle type, which form the continuation of said segments 100 and 101, where said arched portions are mutually superimposed and mutually slidable and are secured by tightening a threaded element.
- Said adjustment member 10 has:
- the slotting 17 serves as a guide for the correct positioning of the parts involved, sliding along an arch by means of bolt 11, and once screwed, the superposition between "flat arches” (i.e., with a flat section) prevents the lateral twisting.
- the outer arch randomly 16, to be narrower than the inner one so as to obtain a central spacing 19 which is compressible by screwing, for a more integral and elastically locked tightening between the curved parts 16 and 16', while the entire body of the lever is structurally even more homogeneous, harmonious, and free from break points as a whole.
- the gripping section serves as a guide at the end of the lever, so that in order to close, a user can grip it at the gripping section 13 and, prior to pulling it, he/she raises it (path a-a) thus releasing it from said locking member 6/7, and then pulls the lever towards him/herself to finally fold it closed (path b-b) on the surface of casement A.
- the user can grip the lever 5 at said gripping segment 13 resting on the closed casement and, after pushing the casement up to the wall, he/she lowers the lever, introducing it into the recess 7 of said catch 6.
- This action occurs simultaneously with the fact that said descending leg 14 specifically designed as an abutting surface is positioned resting on the lower edge of the opening, i.e., of the window sill D, thus neutralizing the hinge C of casement A.
- Figs. 4 and 5 depict a device similar to the previous version, and with similar operation, from which it mainly differs in the differently oriented section of the profile and in a consequent variant of the adjustment member 20 which is flat on the horizontal plane, rather than vertical as the previous model.
- This device also comprises a fixing member 200 with a fixed plate 2 which is fixable, e.g., by screws 3 in holes 3', and with an upper extension 4 adapted to protect the casement from contact with lever 5, between the surface A1 of the casement and the hinged edge A2, on which said fixing member 200 abuttingly rests, and with:
- the adjustment member 20 of this second embodiment preferably is a front joint as well, obtained with two conjugatable opposing sectors mutually conjugated by tightening two arched surfaces 26, 26' of the scythe type, mutually superimposed on the side and provided with at least one complementary slot 27-27 and one complementary hole 28-28, respectively, and crossed by orthogonal pivots such as fixing bolts 29-29, for example, held at the head by one of the fixable arched surfaces, 26 or 26', and fixed at a corresponding threaded element, e.g., by bolts 30, in the opposite surface. Or, inversely, with bolts held at the head in the slots and pivoted on complementary pivots in the perforated counterpart 26'. But still other ways of locking are possible: for example by gluing.
- the curvature of lever 5 is determined as a function of the straight positioning on the edge of the window sill D or other abutment front.
- a vertical adjustment member 120 e.g., a sleeve 31 which surrounds, in a suitable recess 31', the leg 14 to be fixed therein, e.g., by means of a transverse pin 32, in any one of the holes 33 provided arranged in sequence in said leg 14 of lever 5.
- Fig. 6 shows a variant of the device in Figs. 4 and 5 , i.e., where at least one of said arched elements 26 or 26' of the adjustment member is provided with at least one side edging 34 acting as an abutting guide and containment with the opposite element, with the advantage of using a single fixing bolt instead of two, for example.
- this variant has a reinforced version of the locking member, where in addition to said connection between hole 24 and catch 6, it also comprises a slotted protrusion 35, from said fixing plate 200, intended to accommodate a complementary downwards projection 36 (dashed line) of the operating lever 5 intended to be engaged with said slotted protrusion 35 with a large coupling of the fixing member 200.
- Figure 6 shows a variant of lever 5 where segment 100 has an inclined operating end 13a for an adjustment member 121 transversely inclined downwards, and a handled case 37, with a cavity 38 adapted to be accommodated in said operating end 13a and freely transversely slidable up and down therein so that the descending leg 14a can be raised or lowered to reach the abutment surface on the edge of the window sill D, within the limits set by a slot 39 and a containment or fixing pin 40.
- Fig. 7 shows an exemplary sectional view of an alternative adjustment member obtained with a "C"-shaped pair of section bars, where one of the curved profiles 41 surrounds the other 42 with a double edging 32-32, thus securing it from both sides.
- the "C"-shaped profile of one or both the bodies 41, 42 is in fact preferable in the case of embodiments with drawn or cast metal elements.
- Fig. 8 shows a device where a lever 5 has a cylindrical profile, conveniently a rod, which in the segment of the adjustment member 50 is operatively connected to a curved tubular part 51, coupled to a solid segment 52, having:
- Said adjustment member 50 is based on an arched tubular element 51 integrally retained by a fixed portion 59 in the lever segment 101, with a free mouth 60 on the hinged side and a cavity 60' adapted to house the complementary opposite arched portion 52, preferably a solid rod, in continuation from segment 100 and freely slidable in and out therein, and with:
- a device 1 where the profiles of lever 5 have an angled rather than round section and an alternative adjustment member where a box-shaped element 64 with a notch 64' is in place of the arched tubular element 51, while an angled block 65 is provided in place of rod 52.
- Fig. 10 shows a device 1 with the same profile as that in Fig. 8 , from which it differs in the inclined position of lever 5. It is a convenient composition if the surface of the window sill D is quite below the base A3 of the casement and said inclination allows a direct counter-thrust on the edge of the window sill, while the fixing plate 200 remains correctly straight on the laying surface of the casement A, and a vertical adjustment member 65 comprises:
- the invention provides an additional element designed as a forward abutment surface 70 provided with, from the actual abutting surface 71 - intended to strike against the descending segment 14, 14a or 14b of lever 5 - an adjustable stem 72 with a specific thread 73 for moving said abutting surface 71 closer to or further away from wall M in a corresponding screwing element, such as the stop 74, for example, fixed on wall M in the example in Figure 11 , or in the case of a balustrade, in a corresponding specific threaded element on the balustrade itself.
- Fig. 12 shows a device with thin but dual profiles substantially arranged in parallel pairs albeit connected at the ends, preferably made of steel and in any case with a given elasticity, with two special qualities: the first is the slight visual impact and the second the fact of having an elastic texture (like a flat spring) adapted to retain the casement by also slightly pushing it towards the wall to prevent even the smallest slack.
- a fixing member 200 substantially the same as that in Fig. 1 , the parts 100c and 101c of lever 5 are formed by two profiles places side by side with an empty middle space sp1 and sp2 in the center, and with an adjustment member 80 having curved projections 81, 81' of continuity with said parts 100c and 101c held together by a pair of mirroring opposite brackets 82, 82', each with specific coupling seats 83, 83' for sections bars to be coupled to the desired extent by means of a threaded element, e.g., a screw 84, which, crossing the hole of bracket 82 and the middle space sp1 and sp2, is engaged in the threaded hole 84' of the opposite bracket 82'.
- a threaded element e.g., a screw 84
- a fulcrum pin 85 operating in a fulcrum 103 like that shown in Fig. 1 , the tips 86-86' of which are inclined one upwards and the other downwards, joins the lever 5 to the fixing member 200 in a freely rotatable manner in the same shapes and parts as the example in Fig. 1 .
- a stop member 6/7 is provided in said fixing member 200, in which the double-row segment 101c of lever 5 is inserted and removed.
- leg 14c there is a vertical elongation device 87, with a case 88 with a recess 89 housing the profiles and held by a central pin 89' in the preferred position in said descending leg 14c of lever 5, and which can possibly be left floating so as to retract when resting on the window sill D.
- the invention provides a device with substantially flat profiles of lever 5, such as in Figs. 1 and 4 , for example, an alternative adjustment member where the superimposed arched profiles - 90, 90' if with vertical section or 91, 91' if placed flat - are slightly rounded so that, when tightened to each other, they are also laterally secured without needing for edgings between the profiles.
- the rounding of the outer element 90 or 91 is also provided to be slightly narrower than the inner one 90' or 91' so as to form a compensatory space 92 which, under screwing, joins the parts even more firmly due to the elastic pressure, in addition to the mechanical one of bolt 11/29.
