Because the third screw compressor module 3 located downstream the two parallel screw compressor modules 1, 2 is equipped with a variable frequency drive 31, the speed of rotation of the screw compressor 33 located within the third screw compressor module 3 can be increased enough to cope with the additional flow of gas compressed by the two compressors modules 1, 2 located upstream. In that second embodiment, the second screw compressor module 2 can also be arranged with its own variable frequency drive 31 to adjust the speed of rotation of the second motor 22 to get the best efficiency of the second screw compressor 23.
