Abstract

Backpack of the type comprising a main compartment (3) with an inner space and a back panel (2) intended for being in contact with the user's back, wherein the backpack (1) has a rear compartment (5), undetectable from the outside, configured for receiving a portable computer, and comprising a rear compartment upper opening (52), with a closure element, between the main compartment (3) and the back panel (2). The rear compartment (5) extends through the inner space of the main compartment (3). Order is thereby assured in the interior of the backpack and the integrity of the portable computer guaranteed, without changing the aesthetics of the backpack (1).

Description

OBJECT OF THE INVENTION

The object of the present invention falls within the technical field of transport or travel accessories. More specifically, the present invention proposes a backpack having a rear compartment with an upper opening, which cannot be seen from the outside, and intended for receiving a portable computer or tablet or any article having a geometry similar to same, thereby separating it from the rest of the content inside the backpack. Order is thereby assured in the interior of the backpack and the integrity of the portable computer guaranteed, without changing the aesthetics of the backpack.

TECHNICAL PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED AND BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The use of backpacks, bags, etc., for transporting all type of elements, such as stationery, gadgets (mobile telephones, tablets, or portable computers), clothes, etc., in a comfortable and individual manner is widely known.
The term portable computer is used throughout the specification to also refer to any technological article that maybe considered similar to a portable computer, such as a tablet, for example.
The technical problem associated with the transport of technological elements, such as portable computers, for example, lies in the fact that most bags, backpacks, or other transport accessories do not comprise specific spaces for housing them. This negatively affects the order inside the bag, backpack, or transport accessory, and the integrity of the computers (or tablets), given that a suitable space for organization is not available.
Furthermore, the mess generally found inside backpacks also makes it harder to introduce the computer. In other words, when the user wants to put the computer into a backpack that is already full of things, he/she will have to move all the contents with one hand and try to hold said contents while introducing the computer into the backpack. Generally, the user must try to put the computer as close as possible to the rear part of the backpack, the so-called back panel, in order to ensure a substantially vertical position. The possibilities of the computer breaking are thus minimized and the comfort when the backpack is placed on the shoulders is maximized. In this way, the computer is arranged parallel to the back.
In recent years, the use of portable computers has increased significantly, and since the emergence of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, this increase has become even more prominent given the priority placed on working from home in comparison to the options of working in the office with a desktop computer.
Among users of portable computers, there are increasing demands for new solutions which guarantee a safe and comfortable transport of portable computers, without sacrificing aesthetics. Students also require a means that is effective for transporting their computers (from home to the university, the library, the company in which they perform training, etc.).
Based on this need it is know a type of backpack comprising, further to the main compartment (such as any conventional backpack), an additional independent compartment arranged in correspondence with the back panel, is known. This is an extra complementary volume, in addition to the inner volume of the backpack, and that can be clearly seen from the outside determining the ultimate design of the backpack.

DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The invention relates to a backpack comprising a rear compartment, which cannot be seen from the outside, intended for receiving a portable computer. The key of the invention is precisely the fact that the rear compartment extends through the interior of the main compartment of the backpack, without the presence or absence of said compartment being able to be seen from the outside and without modifying the total volume or depth of the backpack.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the backpack has a minimalist design in which, the main compartment upper section has a configuration covering the top of the backpack and comprising a main compartment opening in the front part (which may extend to the sides). This opening provides access to the main compartment of the backpack. In the embodiments of the state of the art in which the opening of the backpack is arranged in the front part, the correct placement of the portable computer in the interior of the backpack is made even harder. However, aesthetic wise, it is one of the options preferred by users.
Therefore, in the backpack of the invention a volume has been made available in the area of the back panel (rear compartment) extending towards the interior of the main volume (the interior of the main compartment). In an embodiment in which the backpack comprises a main compartment upper section with a diagonal main compartment opening, the joining of said main compartment upper section with the back panel is utilized to camouflage the rear compartment.
The major advantage of the described backpack is that it provides the rear compartment while keeping the external appearance of the backpack unchanged, and therefore maintaining simplicity of forms.
Another advantage derived from the configuration of the proposed backpack is that the rear compartment is concealed, providing greater security when transporting portable computers. These computing devices are expensive and often susceptible to theft. Since the compartment in which said devices are housed cannot be seen from the outside, thieves will hardly notice same.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES

To complete the description, and for the purpose of helping to make the features of the invention more readily understandable, this description is accompanied by a set of drawings constituting an integral part of the same, which by way of illustration and not limitation represents the following:

Figure 1A depicts a conventional backpack of the state of the art, without an additional compartment for portable computers. In this backpack, all the articles to be transported are housed in the main compartment of the backpack.
Figure 1B depicts a view of another backpack of the state of the art which does comprise an additional independent compartment for receiving portable computers.
Figure 2 shows a side view of the proposed backpack. No increase is observed in the volume or the depth of the backpack with respect to the backpack of Figure 1A, and yet, it comprises a rear compartment for housing portable computers.
Figure 3A shows a view of the inner space of the main compartment of a backpack such as the one depicted in Figure 1A.
Figure 3B shows a view of the inner space of the main compartment of the backpack of the invention which serves as a comparison with Figure 3A and in which it can be seen how the rear compartment, intended for housing the portable computer, extends through the interior of the main compartment of the backpack.
Figure 4 depicts a side view of the backpack of the invention in which it is shown in dashed line where the rear compartment, which cannot be seen from the outside, extends.
Figure 5 shows a side view of the backpack of the invention in which a portable computer which is being introduced into the rear compartment has been depicted.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The present invention should not be limited to the embodiment described herein. Other configurations may be carried out by those skilled in the art based on the present description. Accordingly, the scope of the invention is defined by the following claims.
Figure 1A depicts a conventional backpack (1) of the state of the art of the type comprising a main compartment (3) in the interior of which a portable computer (8) can be housed along with any other article which the user wants to transport in the backpack (1). The main compartment (3) comprises a main compartment opening (32) configured for allowing the introduction of the articles to be transported in the interior of said main compartment (3). As can be seen, the rear part of the backpack (1) comprises a back panel (2) joined directly to the main compartment (3) by means of a first stitching (6).
Figure 1B depicts a backpack (1) of the state of the art of the type comprising, in addition to the main compartment (3), an additional compartment (4), arranged in the rear part of the backpack (1), in correspondence with the back panel (2). A first additional stitching (9) joining the back panel (2) to said additional compartment (4) is observed. A second additional stitching (91) joining the additional compartment (4) to the main compartment (3) is also seen. Furthermore, the figure shows that the volume and the depth of the backpack (1) have increased with respect to the volume and the depth of a backpack (1) of the type shown in Figure 1A.
More specifically, it has been indicated an additional depth (41) which corresponds with the depth of the additional compartment (4) and, as can be seen, adds to the depth of the main compartment (31). As described above, users do not generally like such an increase in depth (and therefore, volume) since it breaks the simple line aesthetics of the backpack (1) and makes it more cumbersome.
Figure 2 depicts a side view of the backpack (1) of the present invention, in which it can be verified that the presence or absence of an independent compartment for the portable computer (8) cannot be seen from the outside. In other words, at a glance, it would look like a backpack (1) of the state of the art with a main compartment (3) such as the one of Figure 1A. However, the backpack (1) of the invention comprises a rear compartment (5) intended for housing a portable computer. In other words, the backpack (1) of the invention comprises at least one main compartment (3) with an inner space, a back panel (2) intended for being in contact with the user's back, and a rear compartment (5) that is undetectable from the outside.
As can be seen in said Figure 2, when the backpack (1) comprises a main compartment upper section (33) with a configuration such that the main compartment opening (32) is diagonal, the joining of said main compartment upper section (33) with the back panel (2) is utilized to camouflage the rear compartment (5).
The rear compartment (5) comprises a rear compartment upper opening (52), which does not correspond with the main compartment opening (32), and said rear compartment (5) extends through the inner space of the main compartment (3). Therefore, it does not affect the general external design of the backpack (1). The rear compartment upper opening (52) has a closure element, preferably a zipper, and it is arranged between the main compartment (3) and the back panel (2), which are joined together along part of the perimeter of the back panel (2).
The upper part of the backpack (1) can be seen in said Figure 2 and the area where the rear compartment upper opening (52) (which is camouflaged with a flap (10) in this embodiment) and the main compartment opening (32) are arranged has been depicted. The flap (10) extends over the rear compartment upper opening (52) from a second stitching (7), which is the stitching joining the main compartment (3) and the rear compartment (5). The main compartment upper section (33) is also shown with a specific configuration, the main compartment opening (32) being diagonal according to this embodiment.
In one embodiment, the depth of the rear compartment (51) is between 1 cm and 3 cm (enough to allow the introduction of essentially planar bodies).
Figures 3A-3B show a comparison of the interior of the main compartment (3) of a backpack (1) of the state of the art (Figure 3A) and of the inner space of the main compartment (3) of the backpack (1) of the present invention (Figure 3B). These figures depict the interior of said main compartment (3) as observed when the backpack is turned inside out (exposing the sides of the backpack (1) which are facing inwards during regular use).
As can be seen, the first stitching (6) which is shown in Figure 3A and joins the back panel (2) to the main compartment (3) corresponds with the first stitching (6) which, as seen in Figure 3B, joins the back panel (2) to the rear compartment (5) in the present invention. As shown in this Figure 3B, a second stitching (7) joining said rear compartment (5) to the main compartment (3) is seen in the backpack (1) of the invention. The depth of the rear compartment (51) extending through the interior of the main compartment (3) without affecting the depth of the main compartment (31) can be seen. The first stitching (6) has a slightly curved configuration for generating the space of said rear compartment (5) intended for housing the portable computer (8).
Therefore, the main compartment (3) is joined to the rear compartment (5) by means of the second stitching (7) extending along the perimeter of a wall of the rear compartment (5) where at least a part of said second stitching (7) is concealed in the inner space of the main body (3). This occurs, for example, in Figure 4 in which the space through which the second stitching (7), which demarcates the rear compartment (5), extends internally has been depicted with a dashed line. A portable computer (8) which is being introduced in the rear compartment (5) can be seen in Figure 5.
In the embodiment, the back panel (2) itself forms a wall of the rear compartment (5).

Claims

A backpack of the type comprising a main compartment (3) with an inner space and a back panel (2) intended for being in contact with the user's back, wherein the backpack (1) is characterized in that it comprises a rear compartment (5), that is undetectable from the outside, configured for receiving a portable computer, and comprising a rear compartment upper opening (52), with a closure element, between the main compartment (3) and the back panel (2), and wherein said rear compartment (5) extends through the inner space of the main compartment (3).
The backpack according to claim 1, wherein one of the walls of the rear compartment (5) is the back panel (2).
The backpack according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the main compartment (3) and the rear compartment (5) are joined together by means of a second stitching (7), along the perimeter of a wall of the rear compartment (5), wherein at least a part of said second stitching (7) is concealed in the inner space of the main body (3).
The backpack according to claim 3, further comprising a flap (10) extending from the second stitching (7) over the rear compartment upper opening (52) covering the closure element.
The backpack according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the rear compartment (5) has a depth of between 1 and 3 cm.
