Description

A DISHWASHER WITH IMPROVED WASHING PERFORMANCE
The present invention relates to a dishwasher comprising two spray arms which can rotate around different axes.
Since washing tubs of the dishwashers generally have rectangular cross-sections and the spray arms create a circular washing area by rotating around their axes, dishes placed at the corners of the washing tub cannot be cleaned effectively. The use of spray arms placed one above the other that rotate around different axes for solving this problem is known. The lower spray arm preferably rotates around an axis at the center of the base of the washing tub while the upper spray arm connected to the lower spray arm rotates around an eccentric axis. Thus, the end of the upper spray arm better reaches the corners of the washing tub, and the dishes at the corners are enabled to be cleaned more effectively. However, in such embodiments, the gears which rotate the additional spray arm are disposed in the washing tub. During the washing process, dirt particles such as oil, etc. which are removed from the dishes accumulate on the gears and cause the gears to get stuck over time. Moreover, the larger dirt particles which are removed from the dishes are stuck between the gears during the washing process and block the movement of the gears.
In the state of the art United States Patent Application No. US5464482, a dishwasher is disclosed, comprising two spray arms connected at different axes so as to be one above the other and gears disposed below the lower spray arm, enabling the upper spray arm to be rotated.
In the state of the art International Patent Application No. WO2015149859, a dishwasher is disclosed, comprising two spray arms which are arranged in the washing tub with one rotating the other after being rotated itself and gears which are provided in the washing tub and which that enable the spray arms to be rotated. The aim of the present invention is the realization of a dishwasher wherein the dishes placed at the corners of the washing tub are enabled to be washed more effectively without any problem.
The dishwasher realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, explicated in the first claim and the respective claims thereof, comprises a body having a base and at least two side walls; a water line which is arranged in the body; a washing tub which is disposed in the body and wherein the dishes are washed; and a spray arm which is disposed on the base of the washing tub.
The dishwasher of the present invention further comprises a movement mechanism having a primary gear, a secondary gear rotating together with the primary gear and a center gear rotating together with the secondary gear; a plate which moves linearly on the spray arm; and an arm which is disposed on the movement mechanism and which moves the plate. The movement mechanism rotates together with the spray arm. One end of the arm is eccentrically disposed on the center gear of the movement mechanism. The other end of the arm is positioned on the plate. With the rotation of the movement mechanism, the arm moves the plate linearly on the spray arm. When the spray arm is positioned in the body so as to extend from one corner to the other corner, the plate moves away from the center of the spray arm so as to get close to the corners. While the spray arm moves from the corners towards to the center of the side wall, the plate moves towards the center of the spray arm.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher comprises a plate moving between a first position wherein the plate extends outwards from the spray arm towards the corners when the spray arm extends towards the corners, and a second position wherein the plate moves towards the center of the spray arm when the spray arm extends towards the center of the side wall. The movement of the plate is linear with respect to the spray arm. When the spray arm extends towards the corners, the position wherein the plate is farthest away from the center of the spray arm is the first position. After this position, as the spray arm rotates towards the center of the side wall, the plate moves back towards the center of the spray arm. When the spray arm is perpendicular to the side wall, the plate is in the second position which is the closes position to the center of the spray arm.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher comprises a flexible delivery member which is disposed on the spray arm, which is connected to the water line from one end and to the plate from the other end, and which transfers the water received from the water line to the plate. The flexible delivery member lengthens and shortens as a result of the linear movement of the plate on the spray arm. Thus, the economic life of the delivery member is prolonged.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the plate is leakproofingly disposed on the spray arm. Thus, the water delivered to the plate is enabled to be discharged only through the nozzles. The water delivered to the plate is prevented from leaking between the plate and the spray arm.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher comprises a guiding means which guides the movement of the plate on the spray arm. The guiding means is disposed on the spray arm. By means of the guiding means, the plate is prevented from making any other movement other than linear movement and from oscillating.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the movement mechanism is detachably mounted onto the spray arm. Thus, the movement mechanism and the components connected to the movement mechanism such as arm, plate, etc. can be added to the existing dishwashers as a separate apparatus.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher comprises a slot and a protrusion working as a pair and interlocking with each other which are disposed on the movement mechanism and the spray arm, ensuring that the movement mechanism is attached onto the spray arm such that the plate moving as connected to the movement mechanism extends towards the corner when the spray arm extends towards the corner of the washing tub. The movement mechanism can be easily attached to/detached from the spray arm by means of the clawed structure thereof. By means of the dishwasher of the present invention, the dishes placed at the corner regions of the washing tub are enabled to be washed more efficiently, thus increasing the washing efficiency.

The dishwasher (1) comprises a body (2) having a base (3) and at least two side walls (4); a washing tub (5) which is disposed in the body (2) and wherein the washing process is performed; a water line (6) which is provided in the body (2); and a spray arm (7) which is disposed on the base of the washing tub (5) and which rotates around its own axis while being connected to the water line (6). The water delivered from the water line (6) is sprayed onto the dishes from the spray arm (7).
The dishwasher (1) of the present invention comprises a movement mechanism (8) which is disposed on the spray arm (7) and which has a primary gear (111) rotating together with the spray arm (7) as the spray arm (7) rotates around its own axis, at least one secondary gear (112) rotating together with the primary gear (111) in the opposite direction and a center gear (113) rotating together with the secondary gear (112) in the opposite direction; an arm
(9) which is eccentrically disposed onto the center gear (113); a plate (10) which is disposed on the spray arm (7), which is connected to the arm (9) and which is suitable for moving linearly on the spray arm (7) with the rotational movement of the arm (9) on the center gear (13); and a nozzle (11) which is arranged on the plate (10). A movable plate
(10) is used in order to more efficiently wash the corners of the washing tub (5) having a rectangular cross-section. The movement mechanism (8) is disposed on the spray arm (7) As the spray arm (7) rotates, the primary gear (111) rotates together with the spray arm in the same direction. At least one secondary gear (112) is provided inside the primary gear (111) so as to rotate together with the primary gear (111) in the opposite direction. In a preferred version of this embodiment, three secondary gears (112) are provided inside the primary gear (111) so as to rotate together with the primary gear (111). A center gear (113) is provided which rotates together with the secondary gear (112) in the opposite direction. The center gear (113) is positioned inside the primary gear (111). The arm (9) is eccentrically disposed on the center gear (113). In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the arm (9) is positioned close to the teeth of the center gear (113). Thus, as the center gear (113) rotates, the length of the arm (9) on the spray arm (7) changes. As the length of the arm (9) changes, the plate (10) connected to the arm (9) is enabled to linearly move forwards/backwards on the spray arm (7). The water is sprayed into the washing tub (5) from the nozzles (11) provided on the plate (10).
In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises a plate (10) suitable for moving between a first position wherein the plate (10) extends outwards from the spray arm (7) and is farthest away from the center of the spray arm (7) when the spray arm (7) extends towards the corners where two side walls (4) join, and a second position wherein the plate (10) moves towards the center of the spray arm (7) and is closest to the center of the spray arm (7) when the spray arm (7) is almost perpendicular to the side wall
(4).
In another embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises a flexible delivery member (12) which is disposed on the spray arm (7), which is connected to the water line (6) from one end and to the plate (10) from the other end, and which transfers the water received from the water line (6) to the plate (10). The plate (10) moves linearly on the spray arm (7). The water is delivered to the plate (10) from the water line (6). The delivery member (12) ensures the water passage between the water line (6) and the plate (10). Since the plate (10) is movable, said delivery member (12) must have a flexible structure. In a preferred version of this embodiment, the delivery member (12) is a flexible hose.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises the plate (10) which is leakproofingly disposed on the spray arm (7). The water is transferred from the water line (6) to the plate (10). The water delivered to the plate (10) is sprayed from there onto the dishes and to the corners. By leakproofingly mounting the plate (10) onto the spray arm (7), the water delivered to the plate (10) is prevented from leaking.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises a guiding means (13) which is disposed on the spray arm (7) and which guides the linear movement of the plate (10) on the spray arm (7). Thus, the movement of the plate (10) on the spray arm (7) is limited.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises the movement mechanism (8) which is detachably attached onto the spray arm (7). Thus, if not used, the movement mechanism (8) and the plate (10) can be detached from the spray arm (7) so as to prevent the same from occupying unnecessary space in the dishwasher (1).
In another embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher ( 1 ) comprises a protrusion (14) and a slot (15) which are disposed on the spray arm (7) and the movement mechanism (8) and which interlock so as to allow the movement mechanism (8) to be attached onto the spray arm (7) only in a certain orientation. The protrusion (14) and the slot (15) can be interlocked only in a certain orientation, thus allowing the movement mechanism (8) to be attached onto the spray arm (7) only in a certain arrangement. Thus, when the movement mechanism (8) is detached from the spray arm (7) for purposes such as cleaning, etc., the user is enabled to attach the same in the correct position no matter what.
By means of the plate (10) having the nozzle (11) extending towards the corner regions thanks to the movement mechanism (8) and the arm (9) of the present invention, the corner regions of the dishwasher (1) are enabled to be efficiently washed, thus increasing user satisfaction.
