Definitions

  • the invention generally relates to document bodies, such as those used for security documents or the like.
  • the invention relates to document bodies that are flat, with an end face or edge being formed between the opposite outer sides, on which an identifier can be optically detected.
  • Modern valuable and/or security documents are often designed as laminated bodies and/or have a laminated body as a component. These lamination bodies are also referred to as document bodies. They can be, for example, ID cards, driving licenses, ID cards, company ID cards or even data pages from book-like documents such as passport books, passports and the like.
  • Security documents are those documents that have at least one feature that prevents or makes imitation, falsification and/or unauthorized production more difficult. Physical designs of security features are referred to as security elements.
  • serial number is an individual identifier.
  • the US02015022481 1A1 describes a document body according to the preamble of claim 1 with a laminate structure with one or more security features.
  • the laminate structure can be an identification document, such as. B. an identification card, and may include a core layer with one or more security elements located thereon. When light is irradiated into the core layer, the light strikes one or more of the security elements and is reflected back from the core layer, thereby providing an indication that the laminate structure contains the security elements and is therefore genuine.
  • the US020050087606A1 describes a map with non-visible or visible communication markers located on a portion of the map, preferably on the Circumferential edge area of the card is provided.
  • the markings When the communication markings are placed on the card edge surface, the markings may either be invisible to the naked eye or visible to the naked eye. Invisible markings can be applied to the edge surface using UV or IR ink printed with an inkjet printer.
  • the communication markers can be used to verify and track cards in card processing facilities, both before and during card personalization and before or after attachment to mailing forms. The communication markers can also be used for security purposes to prevent card fraud.
  • Markings and/or identifiers known in the prior art which are applied to an outside of the end faces, do not meet the requirements with regard to forgery protection, as are required, for example, for document bodies of security documents.
  • the invention is therefore based on the object of specifying a method and a document body with which a so-called front side identification that can be recognized from the front side and is difficult to forge can be realized, i.e. an identification that can be optically detected on the front side.
  • the invention is based on the idea of printing an identification on one of the layer surfaces in the form of an identification print and covering this surface with another layer during lamination, so that the printed surface in the finished document body is arranged inside the document body.
  • the identification print is applied in such a way that it extends to the end face of the finished document body. This ensures that the identifier can be detected on the front side of the document body.
  • a document body with a forgery-proof end face identifier which comprises: a flat lamination body which is formed from a plurality of thin layers which are laminated with their surfaces on one another, the lamination body having an upper side and an opposite underside and wherein between the upper side and the Underside at least one end face of the laminated body is formed, the areal extent of which is smaller than the areal extent of the top and bottom, the identifier being formed inside the laminated body, so that it can be optically detected on the at least one end face, the identifier being on one Layer surface of one of the layers is printed as an identification print, one surface being arranged inside the lamination body and the identification print extending on the layer surface to the end face.
  • Such a document body can be produced using a method for producing a document body with a forgery-proof end face identification, which comprises the steps: providing a plurality of thin layers; Laminating the several thin layers with their surfaces on top of each other so that a thin lamination body is formed, which has an upper side and an opposite underside, and wherein at least one end face of the laminated body is formed between the upper side and the underside, the areal extent of which is smaller than the areal extent of the upper side and the underside; and forming the end face identifier inside the laminated body so that it can be optically detected on the at least one end face, the identifier being printed onto a layer surface of one of the layers as an identification print before lamination and during lamination onto this printed layer surface another one of the layers is laminated directly , so that the printed one surface is arranged inside the lamination body, with the identification print extending on the printed layer surface to the end face.
  • An advantage of the invention is that the identifier can be integrated into the document body using a simple method, namely by printing it on one of the layers before lamination. Because the printed layer is laminated directly onto another layer, the identification print, which extends to the front side of the document body, can be detected on the front side, but is still protected against counterfeiting since it is located inside the document body.
  • one of the layers and another the layers laminated directly onto the layer surface printed with the identification print are made based on the same plastic material, and that the printing preparation with which the identification print is carried out is also made based on the same plastic material. This means that the two layers laminated directly to one another are made of the same plastic material and therefore form a very good, stable connection during lamination.
  • the material layers that correspond to the two layers from which they are made can often be distinguished in the document body in that they have, for example, different fillers, for example one of the layers is transparent and the other is opaque is.
  • the printing preparation with which the identification printing is carried out is made, for example, on the basis of a binder which has the same basic components as the plastic material of the layers. This can ensure that the identification pressure does not hinder the cohesive connection, but rather the binder is integrated into this cohesive connection.
  • the one layer and the other of the layers are formed from polycarbonate and the identification print is applied with a printing preparation which is formed with a binder with a polycarbonate derivative based on a geminal disubstituted dihydroxydiphenylcycloalkane.
  • a printing preparation which is formed with a binder with a polycarbonate derivative based on a geminal disubstituted dihydroxydiphenylcycloalkane.
  • a pressure preparation DE 10 2007 052 947 A1 Inkjet printing ink can be used.
  • a method for producing a composite from a first and a second polymer layer, each made from a polycarbonate polymer based on bisphenol A, is specified.
  • An inkjet printing layer is arranged on the first polymer layer.
  • the inkjet printing layer is formed of an inkjet printing ink formed with a binder containing a polycarbonate derivative based on a geminal disubstituted dihydroxydiphenylcycloalkane.
  • the second polymer layer is placed on the first polymer layer, the inkjet printing layer being covered, and the two polymer layers being laminated together under pressure at a temperature of 120 ° C to 230 ° C for a defined period of time.
  • the identification print is carried out to the edge of the one layer surface that is printed.
  • the identification print can be applied and the individual document bodies can be separated in such a way that the identification print of the respective document body is divided when the document body is separated.
  • the identification printing is carried out, for example, as a bar code, also known as a barcode.
  • a bar code also known as a barcode.
  • wide and narrow sections of the identification print can be seen on the front side parallel to the printed layer surface. This means: the lengths and positions of the individual printed sections as well as the distances between them form the identification or the coding with which information is stored in the identification print.
  • the identification print does not have to be monochrome, but can also be colorful and multi-colored. Different stripes or sections of the visible barcode can have different colors. Additional information can be encoded here. This means that information can be encoded in the sequence and/or the colors used. It is therefore also possible to encode the information only in the color or colors used.
  • the identification print is preferably carried out as a color print.
  • a color print is a print that uses at least two colorants that produce different color impressions.
  • the identification print is not printed symmetrically to the center of the end face with respect to a direction parallel to the printed surface. For example, if the identification print is carried out on one surface as a color gradient from red to blue along the printed edge, which is integrated into the front side, then a document body in which the top and bottom are swapped in a document body stack is easy to detect the color gradient on the front side is oriented in the opposite direction.
  • the identification print can be carried out in such a way that that opposite edges of the printed layer are designed differently and asymmetrically with respect to the main axes of inertia or symmetry axes of the document body.
  • the short end faces are provided with a front side identifier in such a way that, in a top view of one printed layer, one short side edge has a color gradient from one long side edge to the other long side edge from red to green and the other opposite short side edge has a color gradient from green to red from one long side to the other long side, then a rotation of the finished document body by 180 ° about an axis of rotation perpendicular to the top would not be recognizable.
  • the second side edge is provided with other colors, for example a color gradient from blue to yellow from one side edge to the other side edge, such a rotation of a document body about the axis perpendicular to the surface is noticeable.
  • the identification print is on the one layer surface or the material layer formed therefrom in the document body extends into the interior of the document body. In a preferred embodiment it is thus provided that the identification print is perpendicular to the at least one end face at least 1 cm, more preferably at least to the middle of the one printed layer surface and most preferably even over the entire printed surface from the at least one end face to an opposite end face, extends on the printed surface layer.
  • the end face identifier is thus preferably printed on one layer surface in such a way that it extends from one edge to an opposite edge or extends over a region of the layer surface which has a greater extent than an isolated document along the same extent.
  • the identification print is severed on both opposite end faces during separation.
  • a front side identifier is preferably also used as a hidden feature. This means that the identification print printed on the one layer surface from which the document body is formed and which is located inside the document body does not come from either the top or the bottom when viewed or detected in reflection, which is also called incident light detection is referred to, can be detected. Therefore, in one embodiment it is provided that between the top and the Identification print and the underside and the identification print at least one of the layers has sufficient opacity that the identification print cannot be detected for incident light detection, in which illumination with visible light and optical detection take place from the same side.
  • one of the layers whose layer surface is provided with the identification print can itself have sufficient opacity so that the identification print cannot be recognized or detected when viewed or detected from the unprinted layer surface, provided that this side is also illuminated.
  • Either a further opaque layer can be laminated onto the printed surface layer, or first one or more transparent layers and an opaque layer further above.
  • the opaque cover can also be produced by printing on a transparent layer, provided that this layer has a uniform, non-changing, therefore homogeneous appearance on the edge which faces the end face provided with the end face identification.
  • a further layer, which is opaque in volume, is preferably arranged above the identification print.
  • the opacities of the layers of the document body (or . Lamination body) are selected so that in a transmitted light detection, in which the document body (i.e. the lamination body) is arranged between the illumination source and the detection device, at least one contrast caused by the identification print can be detected.
  • 36° which is available, for example, under the name DECOSTAR 51S 20W 12V 36° GU5.3 from Osram GmbH, Kunststoff, is a suitable source of illumination for a document body whose dimensions are the The specifications of an ID-1 document correspond to the ISO/IEC 7810 standard to be able to capture the contrast caused by the identification print.

  • polycarbonate can be added to titanium dioxide as a filler to maintain this property.
  • a document body designed in this way has an identification print that cannot be recognized (ie cannot be detected) from the top and bottom in reflected light under white light illumination, which causes a front side identification on one end face and can be recognized or detected in transmitted light as an identification print formed at least over part of the area. This can then be used to reliably check whether the end face identification is caused by the flat identification print or is compatible with it or deviates from it and is therefore generated via a marking subsequently added from the outside.
  • the end face identifier described can be formed on one end face or on opposite end faces or on all end faces of the document body.
  • the end face identifiers that can be detected on the individual end faces are different in such a way that one end face can be distinguished from the other end faces based on the end face identifier. It can then be decided whether two document bodies that have an identical structure and contain the same end face identifiers are aligned the same or differently in terms of their orientation.
  • the colorants used for identification printing are preferably body colors which, when detected upon irradiation with white light, produce a colored or black or gray impression, i.e. an optically detectable impression, compared to the background of the surface layer on which the identification print is applied.
  • Other embodiments can provide that alternatively or additionally luminescent colorants are contained in the identification print, the luminescence of which can only be detected upon excitation. Even with luminescent colorants, which cannot be detected when illuminated with visible light, for example, color printing can be carried out if two different luminescent colorants are used, which produce different color impressions when stimulated accordingly, for example with UV light.
  • an identification print that is carried out with body colors is preferred, since in this case the end face identification can be easily checked with the entire identification print without any additional aids in addition to a light source.
